Looking for some recommendations for a durable cheap tablet for our toddler to use. We cannot afford to buy our child an iPad since we can't even buy ourselves one. Right now LO is using an old iPod touch with a shattered screen so we need need to upgrade. Anything under $200 and a super strong case is a bonus 
FWIW, she loves watching tv shows on it and playing games, so app accessibility is also a factor.

I would look into a refurbished ipad, in all honesty, it could even be a previous generation.
Reason being that the apps available for the ipad are just so much better.

We got our son a Nabi for his birthday and he loves it. We have yet to check out all the features but it looks like you could throw it against the wall and it would survive. Plus it's an android so you can download pretty much anything (through the parent login only).

Awesome recs ladies. I have been reading some reviews online and it seems the Amazon store is not very compatible for Canadians so that blows.

@Lindsay05: In that case I'd recommend something like a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7". I had that tablet for a while and it was great! They're going for like $150 now.

We have had two gens of nook tablets and really like them. Our kids bang them around plenty and they have held up, and they can operate the touch screen and buttons very easily. The hd+ that we use most now uses the google play store for apps, which is nice, and has the bigger screen, 10" I think. They always have really good deals at Fathers Day...we got our latest for $149 plus 5% off at target last year. We also like the B&N in store support option if we ever need it.

@Lindsay05: I wouldn't recommend any of those colour ereader tablets personally... They all have a watered down version of Android.

I have a nexus 7 and I adore it - my toddler doesn't get to play with it! But it would be great for that.
