We did ours about 10 weeks before our DD. The couple next to us was about 2 weeks from their DD and she looked so uncomfortable when we did stuff on the floor. We also did the 2 day version.

@shopaholic: Well mine is Hypnobabies, so I keep practicing at home all the way up to the EDD.
Plus, I'm a doula, so I'm taking this more for the hypno training than the actual childbirth education - I already know what to expect with birth.

We are doing our 6 weeks before EDD. I probably would have pushed it back a bit, but we are bumping up against the holidays.

We didn't take any classes!
I wouldn't do it during valentine's day weekend. You should have a romantical time with your DH!

I agree with @c.sassy. That's true, if you have a doula you may not need the classes. The doula can walk you through before and during, so you won't forget anything.

I would do it earlier rather than later, I wouldn't worry about forgetting things. The further along you are, the more uncomfy you are. And if your hospital is anything like ours, the chairs are sooooo uncomfy. You have to sit there for hours in those uncomfy chairs and its' no fun.

I do think it's good to go to the class though. Usually you'll start laboring at home first and it'll help to learn some techniques to ease the pain. Also I liked being educated on all of my options, even though I knew I wanted an epi it made me feel better about it. But I was then also informed on natural childbirth in case my epi failed me.

We're doing a one-day crash course (also due to DH's schedule) this weekend, which will be 11 weeks before the EDD. I don't think it's really anything you can forget... at least, I'm pretty sure I'll remember the gory details of everything they tell us! I prefer to be prepared, so 2 weeks before would absolutely freak me out. So given your choices, I voted for 3 weeks before!

I picked three weeks, but in all honesty, I would schedule it sooner, like no later than a month before your DD. I gave birth 3.5 weeks early, so I'm glad we were done with our class series well before that (we had our last class about 7 weeks before my DD).
