I probably would...I mean, with someone responsible, like my husband. He's proably even more careful than I am, so I know he'd be going slowly, being careful, etc.

Of course, now we live in a city and in an apartment, so this is a non-issue. But I feel the same way about 4 wheelers or bicycles or whatever. My husband grew up in a country where it was normal that he, his sister, his mom, and his dad would all be on one scooter in major traffic, in the middle of lorries and cars and rickshaws and what-have-you. So we'll definitely be safer than THAT!

Well, my husband couldn't really hold him at this point because we have a zero turn radius mower so he needs both hands and there isn't room for another human. The dog rides sometimes on the mower deck, though.

But I don't think it's a huge deal on a regular riding mower. As long as they are going slow, I think it's fine. I loved riding the mower with my parents when I was little.

Yes, I would. I look forward to LO riding on the tractor with my dad too!

I'm usually pretty easy going, but this just scares the bejeezus out of me. Luckily (or maybe not!) our lawn isn't big enough to warrant a riding mower so it's a non-issue.

A class mate of mine wad run over by a lawn mower after falling off. He was sitting behind his Dad and fell of backwards as his Dad was backing up. He died from the accident. I will never let any of our kids ride on the mower.

I only said no way because our yard is really hilly, and DH almost tips the lawnmower pretty much every time he mows.

I *think* if we had a flat yard I would allow it? Hard to say when it's not a real possibility though.

I wouldn't throw my kid on the back and take off. If they are in front of DH with him holding LO that is fine by me.

@pui: agreed 100%. Bad things have happened in every situation in life, that doesn't mean it always will.

Nope. A family friend nearly lost his son because of this.

We don't have a riding mower so I won't be letting my LOs near our lawn mower. When my cousin was a baby she was a bit colicky. The only way my uncle could get her to sleep was to hold her and drive around on the lawnmower. There is a picture of them on the mower and it is adorable.

Depends on the age. Maybe with DH?

@LazyLightning: Totally agree! Those warnings are more about liability than anything else.
