I got one. We could only afford one of the non-precious metal ones, but it was still relatively expensive ($150ish). I barely wore it high school and definitely not since.

I suppose if our kids really want one, we would probably get them one. It's kind of a part of the high school experience. I don't think that I'd spring for a real gold/platinum version though.

I really wanted one, but my parents wouldn't get me one. I think that was a smart move. I wouldn't have worn it for more than a year. I'll let my sons get one if they really want to, but they'll have to contribute some of their own money towards it.

I wanted a cocktail ring, but my dad was big on me getting a regular style. If I could do it again, I would skip it.

This wasn't a thing at my school in Canada! So nope... I didn't have one.

Its always funny to think back about how epic I thought graduating high school was. I thought it was this life changing, world is ending/starting sort of thing. I guess at the time it was. The ring was SO important at the time, the letter jacket SO important and SO cool. (my parents didn't buy me a ring or a jacket, nor would I have worn either past June 2000). Looking back at it now...it just makes me giggle. I've gone on to accomplish so many more epic things..college, grad school, a real job where I actually make a difference in peoples lives. High school seems like a blip on the radar.

Some of my friends in college wore small dainty signet rings with their initials that they received after high school. Those were timeless; if my daughter wanted that I'd purchase it for her.

@matador84: Yes, signet style..if I could do it over, I would get something like that...rather than the traditional style with the oval colored stone.

my older brother had one and pretty sure he basically never wore it. I think my parents would have gotten me one but I opted for the regular ring choice and I think that was smart. I picked it out at an estate shop and it happened to be a larger band size than I really needed. I have worn it during both my pregnancies since my real rings don't fit then!

for kids - I would probably try to talk them out of it and steer toward another memento or piece of jewelry.

This has made me realize that I don't know where my college ring is and I love that one. It's the signet style with the college crest.

I had one and really loved it for the six months or so that I had it while still in high school. Haven't worn it since but it's a nice little keepsake. I can't believe they cost that much now, mine was around $150 I think. I wouldn't spend $400 on one for my kid, he'd have to get s job for that one!

None for me. I'd be more likely to buy her a piece of jewelry that's more timeless. For some reason class rings seem kind of 80s/90s to me, I don't think I remember any friends having one.

I don't have one. Honestly, I think a "class ring" for high school is weird - but I totally own that I'm not sentimental at all about that kind of stuff and so can't imagine being *that* connected to high school. Slightly less weird for college, but I never would have thought to get a college ring personally.

I have my university ring that I wear every day....it's very recognizable and everyone wears it so I often come across other alumni and we strike up conversations. It's especially fun to meet people while traveling in random places ! Our ring ceremony was bigger and more exciting than graduation. I think something like 97% of the class gets one.

Clas rings were never a thing in HS/college!

I have one, but even 16 years ago when I graduated it was kind of funny and passe - almost no one else got one. Mine isn't precious metal. I actually wear it now in place of my wedding ring, which has been too big for years. When I get that sized I'll go back to not wearing it. Mine isn't precious metal, so it couldn't have been very expensive. I probably wouldn't buy them for my kids, though. If it's even an option, which I doubt.

Mine looked like a coffin (black onyx) and I got rid of it awhile ago. That was for high school. I didn't get one for college.
