We didn't really ask questions, basically, she came over to the house and we showed her the rooms and she explained what she could do and not do (windows not included, but can be done for extra). We agreed on the price and she comes every other week for about 3 hours, on Friday.

We have all hardwoods in our main living area and she vacs and damp mops them all.

I agree with Looch, show her around, make sure she has a good understanding of what you want her to do. We have about 2000sq ft (all wood/cork floors). 2-3 women come every 2 weeks and they spend a little over an hour and do a pretty good job.

We didn't even interview because it was a company (and i was desperate, ha) but it takes two women a few hours. We have 2000 sq feet, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms.....it doesn't take long. I like that every other week, they focus on an area. So the house gets deep cleaned via a rotation system. It's awesome.

She cleans for a living so I assumed she would know what to do.
Still, I made a very clear list for that first week.
No, it is not too much to ask her to do all flooring every week. They expect this? I mean, it isn't asking much out of the ordinary.
Every week, I might tweak things. Our house is clean when she comes, so ours doesn't do dishes or toys or laundry either. But sometimes, I'll ask her to wash LOs sheets or ask her to unload the dishwasher. I pay my cleaning lady hourly, so she doesn't mind as long as she isn't there outside of her work hours (8am-5pm).
