Do wet bags have an "expiration" date--like a certain number of washes... or a year?
Or buy a new one before baby #2?
And... how long does a diaper usually last?
If you have a small stash (like 18 diapers), do they fall apart before you can use them for baby #2?
Anyone have tips on using cloth on multiple kids... and preserving the cloth and water proof lining of wetbags?

I think the biggest thing is not drying anything except maybe inserts. My wet bag looks brand new. Most of my pockets look pretty good but I plan on just replacing the inserts (probably won't go microfiber but organic or charcoal).

I have no experience as I'm still on my first kid (and with only 12 diapers!), but I think the best way to make your diapers/wet bags last is to line-dry. I use fitteds and admittedly do not line dry them. I do line-dry the covers and wet bags, though. Heat is the main culprit, I think.

Yes, since I started with the dryer things are not as nice as they were. 
I have 18 soakers... a few are looking worn. And two fitteds--both have some damage, like I had to patch them a couple times damage.
But the wet bags were always air dried. I have a zip up wet bag, not a pail liner. Maybe it's time for a pail liner?
My covers look brand new, my wet bags LOOK brand new but don't contain the smell anymore. The soakers... do not look new.

My wet bags LOOK good.... but they don't seem to contain the smell any longer. There is no peeling, they still are water tight (and usually full of water when I pull them out of the washing machine).
Maybe my wet bag issue is something else.
Time to go back to line drying my soakers and fitteds though. Ah, well.

I had a related thread not too long ago. I think the turning point is around 2 years- that's when things start to actually fall apart and need mending or replacing. I'm 7 months into my second kiddo with a decent size stash and I *think* the majority will survive another year of use but if we have a third then everything will need to be replaced. (We hang dry everything).
As for wet bags- my planet wise is still like new, but my bummis are not holding in the stink anymore- something about the seams I think.

Meh, I don't have the patience to line dry and all my stuff is perfectly fine and ready for baby 2, but DS has taken to the potty pretty early and is now in undies except for sleeping at 17 months. If they had to last 2.5+ years it might have been a different story.

Just started using mine with #2. My first used them for 27 months and they're still in great shape although I did have all the elastic replaced.

We used gDiapers, so it's slightly different, but DS wore them until potty training at 2.5, and baby 2 is arriving this winter. About 1/3 of my cover stash was bought second hand, and for the most part, everything has held up really well and I'm sure we can get great use out if them the second time around. If you have time to line dry, it's definitely better, but I would say I machine dried 2/3 of the time.

My pail liners were the only thing I tossed when LO started regularly using the toilet. They just were not very robust and fell to pieces in the washer. The rest of it all looked fine after 2 years of use and mostly line-drying. I had 20 BumGenius pockets.

Also... a local diaper expert said my wet bags are fine--but toddler pee just smells worse. HAH!
@Navy_Mommy: What method did you use for potty training? I feel like my son is ready some days and not others.
@ohapostrophe: I am probably going to have to replace the "velcro" before #2.
@lamariniere: We have gdiapers, too (for daytime). The covers look the same as they did after a month of use... but the soakers are not doing so well... or the prefolds.
I guess I have to go back to line drying. Bummer.
