I don't know how big a role the cloth played, but we successfully potty trained at 27 months, which was on the early side for LO's class. I think bigger factors may have been having an older friend who was in undies which was a motivation and being developmentally able to manage it.

I don't think cloth diapers had much of an impact for LO. That said, we took a slow-ish approach and it took around 4 months before he was always making it to the potty in time. I think the single biggest factor was simply putting LO in real underwear. Spring for the kind with some extra padding, like the Gerber ones. They definitely feel wet, but they absorb some of the pee so it doesn't all hit your floor!

Nope. She's almost 26 months, in cloth & does not tell me when she's wet.

@sarac: how did your LO know there was an alternative to cloth that would keep her dry?

We are at 30 months now and cloth has not made a lick of difference in potty training. Lol.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: you probably would want to go to all cloth once he/she is big enough to fit into them. We went with cloth from the beginning but we still used disposables for vacations, naps, and when I realized that she would sleep longer at night if I put her in disposables.

Honestly, I don't think it made a difference or helped with potty training.
