This was never a problem with us but we probably never layered up like you (live in TX). We had a Chicco Keyfit 30 but we also switched to a convertible when my son was around 18 lbs because he liked sitting up more instead of reclining the way the infant seats do.

@caffeinated: my guess would be that it's unrelated to the diaper. Almost all babies outgrow their seats before reaching the weight limit. If you take the head support (if you're still using it) and the canopy off, feel for the top of the hard shell in the carseat, don't just look at the top because with the cover it can be misleading, then see where the top of LO's head is in the seat. It should be at least one inch below where you feel the top of the shell. That inch is really important because in case of an accident, the neck will extend & the head will go back, if there isn't support there the top of the carseat shell can act as a folcrum point over which the spine can break. Not trying to be an alarmist, just trying to explain the mechanics. And it sounds like LO would be more comfortable in a bigger seat & it would be easier for you to get her in & out of it : )
