Hi! I was wondering if anyone noticed differences in their child's development with cloth diapers. We have been using them for about 3 months, and we recently noticed that LL rolls a lot more, and grabs his toes when wearing disposables, but not cloth. Does this difference go away with time?

A has been in cloth diapers from the beginning and is a moving machine. Started rolling at 3 months and now at 4.5 months is almost crawling. So I don't think the cloth diapers hinder their movement necessarily, but of course they'll feel different on, especially if the cloth diapers you use are really bulky. Honestly, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

We didn't notice a difference. DS has been in them since he was 2wks old. He rolled back to tummy around 4ish months, tummy to back a few weeks later (and begrudgingly...once he realized he could be on his stomach he hated being on his back). He sat up unassisted and crawled at 6 months, pulled up at 7, cruised at 7.5 and started walking at 10.5.

I think this is a pretty common fear but from what I read, there is no evidence that it slows down development in any way. And remember, there only used to be cloth before disposables were around. My son and daughter have both been CD'ed and they haven't been behind on any motor skills.

I didn't notice any differences, and we started cloth diapering around 3 months. Shortly after he started rolling like a pro. LO hit developmental milestones a little earlier than average.

Thanks ladies! I feel so bad when I am changing his diaper and he immediately grabs his toes and grins at me (something he doesn't do when he is in a cloth). I feel better now though

@Mrs. Lion: my DD did this with grabbing her feet during diaper changes too! not to worry though, once she figured it out, she did it way more often! i had the fear that it would hinder her, but she's sitting up on her own and on the pathway to crawling at 7 months!

Mm, I guess I'm the odd man out, but I kind of think it hinders my LO a little bit. Not a ton, and nothing that I'm worried about, but I think he just has a bit more range of motion with disposables. But he also poops all over his clothes every time he's in disposables, so I'm sticking with the cloth!
