We have more diapers with snaps but I am about to buy some BG Freetimes with velcro fasteners....my almost 10 month old LO can't stay still during diaper changes and some of the teachers at daycare struggle with the snaps. I just want to make things as easy possible for them since they are making an exception for us to use cloth!

Snaps! just because the reviews on them were a lil more lasting, etc. but not sure of actual use yet!

We have snaps but I do enjoy our aplix. I like the ease of them and I haven't had any issues with them as far as wear and tear goes. Although, she loves taking them off so I can't have her wear dresses with the aplix.

I have almost exclusively snaps, because I want them to last through multiple children and I don't want to deal with laundry tabs.

@Arden: Yeah, the tabs are a pain but the few I have have held up well but I line dry them.

I have more Velcro and now wishin they were snaps!! LO knows how to take them off so we have to be quick!

We use snaps at home but daycare does like velcro. The velcro just really doesn't hold up well.

We have velcro for our smaller covers, because it's easier to get a good fit on those tiny legs. I prefer snaps for our AIOs and one-sizes. The velcro doesn't hold up very well. I know that it's very unlikely that all of our diapers will make it through multiple children, but I think most of our velcro might not make it through this first LO.

We only have snaps. A friend of mine is on her second and she had to sew snaps on all of her velcro diapers because they all got worn out. I'm don't know how to sew..... so I would be screwed.

I have gDiapers and they are all velcro. Either way is fine for me, and I sew, so I don't mind replacing them if it comes down to it. 3 months in and the diapers still look practically new so I'm not worried. Plus it's easier for DH.
I have borrowed some with snaps to try. They're OK too. -
We have snaps but I sort of wish we'd gotten velcro or hooks. He's very squirmy, and I think it'd be easier to get them fastened if I wasn't having to find the snaps, especially in an almost dark room in the middle of the night.

We have about 1/3 snaps and 2/3 aplix... I wanted more snaps for the durability/longevity, but hubs and my mom like aplix more.
@artbee: there are CD moms who will convert your aplix to snaps for a small fee (about $4 per diaper http://convertmydiapers.com/conversion_prices). I can't sew either, and I might go this route if my aplix diapers don't last.

@HabesBabe: If you have a sewing machine it is easy to take off the old aplix/velcro/stick tabs. Then... pin the new stuff down (or even tape it down with masking tape.
Sew an X--doesn't have to be perfect. You don't have to sew perfectly in a square around the edges!
Then pull off the masking tape (or pins) and wash away the masking tape residue. Easy peasy! -
We have mostly snaps. The few aplix we have are already super worn plus LO knows how to undo them; I wouldn't get them again.

All but 2 of our diapers are snaps, and I am not a fan of the aplix ones we do have.

I bought some velcro thirsties covers used - big mistake. It's horribly worn out and they barely hold. I bought some new, but now I only buy snaps. Slightly harder to put on, totally worth it.

@sarac: I've been very disappointed with the velcro on our Thirsties covers, and won't be buying them anymore. Bummis is much better.

I started with velcro, but now have exclusively snap. Hook & loop (AKA velcro and aplix) are really nice for newborns when you need a tight fit and have little coordination and time. I ended up moving to side snaps to get a better fit when DS got older.
There are some types of hook & loop closures that are better than others. The GroVia and Baby Kicks ones are by far nicer than Thirsties, Bummis, Bum Genius.
