I decided to bust out a cloth diaper to try and use at home today. I've only known ONE mom IRL who CDs. I've NEVER seen anyone else CD IRL (i.e. at the baby lounge, in the restrooms, etc.) Even the mom I met today (whilst talking about CDing) only does it at home and uses disposables when she's out she said.
Do you ever see people CD IRL? Is it popular where you live? Just curious!

Crazy popular where I live. I joke and say it's contagious, lol, cuz you see how easy it is and how much money it saves so it catches on. All my friends cloth diaper.

2 out of 5 of my mommy group friends CD! They have all quit now though. I think around 9/10 months they stopped.

Yep I've seen lots of fluffy butts out and about! I started a Facebook group since there wasn't a local buy sell trade one and it had over 70 Locals after about a month.

Tons. Out of all of my mom friends, I'm the only mom (other than a few HB friends who I've met) who doesn't CD. I'm in the Seattle area though and people are very environmentally conscious.

I don't have any kids but I don't know anyone IRL that does it. I know some people on FB and HB that do it.
I do currently live in Seattle which is why I'm so earth conscious but when I move back east, I think people won't get it and will probably ask me a ton a questions.
ETA: I lied. I know a coworker who uses cloth diapers. They use a cleaning service I think.

I know a handful! We only cd at home and during the days. I still use sposies at night and when we go out! We only have 12 so far, but may get more. I've found it waaaaaayyyyy easier and cleaner to use cd's as LO has gotten older. He's 15 months now and his poop is so crazy easy to clean. Just rolls right off! And the fluffy butt is less apparent since they are on the largest setting now (bg 4.0). 
maybe its time to buy more!

2 friends do it. One uses a diaper service instead of cleaning herself, and the other washes at home.

@Navy_Mommy: @tysonja: I don't understand how it's "easier" than disposables? I understand all the other benefits, but "easy" just doesn't seem one of them. I mean, how hard is it to use a disposable?

@shopaholic: people who have never seen them think of old school diapers with pins and stuff. When I say easy I mean they aren't harder than disposables.
However I do agree with @aprk: that I love the fact I don't have to worry about ever running out.

Nope not common around d here at all. When I went to my first moms group I met one other person IRL that cloth diapers. It was exciting to meet someone else who does it BC a lot of ppl are grossed put or fascinated by it and yo me its just normal

I only have one friend who does. But I don't have many mom friends IRL. I thought that I would use disposables when we were out and about but it ended up being easier for us to CD all the time. I love my son's fluffy bum.

P.S. I definitely don't use them because I think they're easier than disposables...we use disposables on trips and I think that they are WAY easier than cloth. However, I do love using cloth and the money that I save doing it.

I have a couple of facebook friends who do it, but they're not people I see regularly anymore. I cloth diaper at home and on easy or short trips, but I use disposables quite a bit as well.

@shopaholic: We did it until LO was 10 months! It wasn't "easier" than disposables, IMO, but it was good while it lasted! Most of the mommies at Granola Babies CD, so you prob saw some of them in action for the Great Latch On

My sister in law uses them. Another family at our daycare does as well. I also met some moms at yoga & nursing group (and of course moms I meet at the cloth diaper store!) who do but I'd say he majority of families I know use disposables.
As for "easier" than disposables; I think they're just not much more work & I consider using cloth "easy".

I use them at home and daycare but I like disposables for extended errands and vacations. I don't know any friends who use cloth but several families use them at our daycare.

I don't know anyone locally who cloth diapers and I have a couple of Facebook friends who do. I saw a girl in a breastfeeding group with her baby in CDs (I recognized the fluffy butt thanks to hb!)
I'm surprised so many of you know so many cloth diaperers. Boston is moderately "crunchy" but I just never see them.

CD is definitely the minority where I am. Sometimes I see a CD Mom at a playgroup and when diaper changing we'll sometimes chat, more often a sposie Mom will see my dipes and do 20 questions on them, like they want to take the plunge but think they're so much more complicated then they are and realize it when they ask some questions!

@HLK208: weird!!! I'm in Seattle too, and I am the only one out of all of my friends who CDs. Everyone here looked at me like I had two heads when I told them I was CDing!

I live in Iowa, and while it's not particularly popular here, it is relatively popular in the circles I run with. I don't usually see random moms in the store or the doctor's office with cloth diapers, but I do see them a lot in my circle of acquaintances.

Here in Portland it is really common. Probably half or more of the moms I know do it. I just stopped when she turned 2 because she asked me to.

I think I know 2 people IRL that CD. I love it and so does my DH. Luckily, it seems to be catching on around here - we now have 4 stores in our area that sells CDs.

I have a few non local friends who CD. No one I know locally does. In fact, I was changing LO in front of some moms my age and they didn't even know what they were. They thought they were just diaper covers. And they thought I was nuts lol.

I live in KS. I was about to say that I don't know anyone IRL that CDs, but I just remembered a coworker that CDs. He and his wife have 10 kids though (oldest being 21, next oldest is 12!), so they have to cut costs where they can! She makes hers herself - talk about dedication!

We cloth diaper. We have two local friends that CD. We have half a dozen friends that live in other states that CD and I have a cousin that CDs her twins.
