Sometimes I wish we had a clothes line. My grandma used to use one when we were really young and I loved how her clothes and towels felt/smelled after drying on the line ! This seems silly though since we have a dryer. Any of you have a clothes line ? I don't know anyone who uses one anymore !

I loved using a clothes line, but since had allergy testing done and found that my extreme eczema and was partly due to seasonal allergies and my allergist insisted that I don't dry clothes outside anymore because the pollens just get all over your clothes.
However, we use a drying rack for a lot of things at home to save money on electric! Our dryer isn't very efficient!

Our HOA doesn't allow people to use outdoor clothes lines. My husband also has terrible allergies... I think his face would swell up permanently if I dried things outside! haha.

@creativemomma15: @Pepper: blah. I didn't think about this. I have horrid allergies. And... I'm sure out HOA wouldn't be ok with it either. Boo. There's just something nice and kind of nostalgic about clothes drying in the breeze !

I lovvveeeee our clothes line. I love the smell and how freh my clothes get. We are moving to a new house though that doesn't have one and doesn't really have anywhere to put one. We just found out last year that DH has an extreme grass/pollen allergy so it's probably best that we don't use one. But I will miss it!

My IL's have one in their garage. They pretty much never use the dryer, even in the winter, except for towels or really thick garments. Things get hung on hangers when pulled out of the wash and hung on the line. When they are dry they are hung on the door of whomever they belong to.

I usually do a make shift one! But I made DH promise me I can get a permanent one now that we're in our forever home. I love how clothes smell after being dried in the sun!

I put up a retractable one last year and broke it from putting too much on it. I'm considering the permanent kind.

I have a shelving system by my machines where I hang dry nearly everything. I love clothes that air dry and it helps keep them in better condition longer.

I don't have a clothesline but I love my indoor drying rack!

Even if we had a spot for one, DHs intense allergies would preclude us from using it! Poor guy has it bad - all year round.

Our second bathroom currently functions as the drying 'room'-- I have the foldable drying rack set up in the shower and hang things on hangers from the shower curtain rod!
But I have no problem using the dryer either, even though ours isn't super efficient. We never had a clothesline outside so I don't miss it-- it just seems annoying! Also I live in the city so it would be pretty weird

I have an irrational fear of bugs in my clothes. We have a pretty horrid stink bug problem in Maryland. I am also terrified of spiders. I'd be waayyy too paranoid about it.

We dry everything on our outside line and we don't actually own a dryer. I'm in New Zealand and an outside line is pretty standard wherever you go.

I'm lucky to have an indoor and an outdoor clothesline setup. It is great, but occasionally I throw the load in th dryer to make sure it still runs and to get rid of lint. I read somewhere the average dryer uses as much electricity in one load as the average fridge in 2 months. Crazy!

We used one for our cloth diapers. We have a HE washer/dryer, so drying is very quick inside and we don't dry outside.

@mrsmate: That would explain why our electric bill was a fair amount higher than we expected! We just moved and it's the first time we've had a washer and dryer in our apartment!

We have a small one for pool towels but sometimes I hang L's burp cloths out there.

We have a clothing rack in our garage I hang dry a lot if our clothes on. I'd also be worried about pollen.

We put one up before LO was born. I love it! I always toss things in the dryer for a couple of minutes to make sure they're soft and all lint is off. We also use dryer balls (wool balls) in our dryer to help cut drying time and keep things soft.

I use a drying rack for most of our clothes, some go straight in the dryer. I always throw the air dried clothes in the dryer for about 10 minutes to get them soft.

We have one and use it for cloth diapers when it's nice out. We also use a drying rack frequently. I grew up rurally and we always line dried all summer.

Our HOA says no outdoor clothes lines, boo. But I have a big drying rack that I use for the cloth diapers. It's inside on dreary days and outside when it's sunny.

we live in a "high wind area" in an already very windy city!

We had one growing up that I wold use to make sheet forts on our deck. I would love to get one when I have a house (mostly for our CDs), but for now I have a small drying rack that works well enough.
