I was in the cutest little coffee shop today, and it got me thinking. If you had the choice between a little local joint, and a chain like Starbucks or Tim Hortons, which would you choose for your morning coffee?

I love local places, but there's not any around here. It's all Starbucks or DD.

I wish there were coffee shops nearby. I rarely splurge on Starbucks, but if it was a small shop my excuse would be that I'm supporting a small business owner...and that would be excuse enough to get coffee out (:

I make my morning cup at home. But I would prefer to support local but it still has to be a good cup!

I try to avoid chains as much as possible... but for quick outings they are usually where we go.

i would hope to go local! .... unless the coffee/drinks/treats were not tasty or toooooooo expensive.

i live in seattle and it depends where i am. if i'm downtown then i'll do a local coffee house. if im in the burbs and don't know of the local then i'll go to sbux

I love cute little coffee shops! i still go to starbucks a lot though.

Local. Politics & Prose was a fav bookstore coffee shop I frequented as a kid.

We have a local chain that I frequent. I like that I can get the same thing anywhere in the city, but that it's still all owned by the same folks.
We have a local place, but I'm not a fan of their stuff. It's *too* artsy for me.

I'm so partial to Starbucks because I LOVE strong coffee...regular office/deli/local shop coffee doesn't normally do it for me! Lol

We've been going local because they also serve a slammin' breakfast sandwich.

I prefer supporting local places, but Starbucks has drive-thru which is essential when DS is sleeping in the car.
I do wish we had Tim Horton's down here though!

local. if i'm not making it at home, then i would go to one of 2 local places a quick walk from my house.

Probably the local place. I was bummed when our local cafe changed hands. Now the coffee tastes like feet, so it's Starbucks for me.

Local if there is one. I can't think of a local place near where I live though!
