My LO is almost 11 months and I'm still drinking decaf cause caffeine (from my breastmilk) gets her wired up and unable to fall asleep. So far, I've tried Starbucks, Peets, and a few other decafs and the only one that comes close to tasting like normal coffee is the Costco Kirkland Decaf ground.
Have you tried any good ones that don't taste like coffee-flavored water?

We have a Keurig and I ordered one from Green Mountain I think it was? And Donut Shop Decaf. Both were ok. Actually though, Ive never heard this prior to my appt, but at our 3 month well visit, Livs pedi told us that decaf was actually worse for you and the baby because of all the chemicals they use to decaffeinate the coffee. Caffiene doesnt affect her in moderation (1 or 2 cups, before 4pm) so Ive just been going lightly on the caffeine. But if you want the taste, the Donut Shop one wasnt too bad

@livsmama--does that apply for water processed decaf coffee? It's supposed to be better and filters caffeine out without chemicals. I hope so! That's what I've been drinking.

I find my decaf tastes the same. It's a swiss water process decaf....I think the brand is like Reunion Island or something like that, and I use it in my espresso machine. Tastes just like normal to me. But then again, I went 2 months with no coffee at all, so maybe I just forget.

Some of the solvents commonly used to take the caffeine out of the beans in the soaking process:
trichloroethylene: (chloronated hydrocarbon) it's something that if you smell a lot of it it can be used as an anesthesia
methylene chloride: widely used as a paint stripper and/or a degreaser. Some studies have shown it could be categorized as a carcinogenic
ethyl acetate: same stuff you see in nail polish remover, glues and an additive in cigarettes.

miranlee im os sorry, i jsut saw your response! Im not sure, I havent heard of that. Our pedi was referring to standard decaf, like the nastiness @venice4504 referred to., thats all I know =o)

Again, if you get Swiss Water Process decaf, it is not from the chemical way.
