I have a variety of winter coats and leather gloves. I'm half/half on when i remember to wear a scarf because most of my coats I zip up over my mouth! (I'm not very good about wearing a hat tho!)

I hate hats so I always wear earmuffs. I also always wear tights under my pants to have that extra layer of protection. And always a scarf!

I am wearing fleece lined leggings under my pants. Today I wore my snow boots and still have them on.
I wear a huge parka, with a hat and windblocking mittens that fold down over my finders.
I don't frack around with the cold!

My jacket has a hood... mittens or leather gloves and a scarf, always!
I also wear knit headbands like this

If it's really cold I wear wool under my pants. I don't bundle up too much if we are just running errands, because the bulk and getting dressed/undressed in stores annoys me.
To actually be outside, it's all about the wool. And fleece neck warmers. Not stylish, but I love them.

Super warm coat, scarf, ski gloves and obnoxious snow boots. I don't do hats unless it is *really* cold.

I wear a warm parka with a scarf, hat, and mitts — and pull the hood up. Sometimes that's not enough!

It has been real feel of -15 with a crazy wind and I walk to and from work. So I have on a under armour hat + Knitted hat, scarf, thick gloves, puffer coat and shearling lined winter boots! I look like a eskimo but at least I'm warm!

Lately with the -20 temps, I layer fleece lined leggings under my work pants (ponte, so warmer than slacks), I always wear a tank and usually a sweater on top. Then my thigh-length pea coat, knit tube scarf, trapper hat, knit gloves and boots. I really need winter boots though, because mine aren't good for snow. Sometimes if it's snowy/wet enough my feet get wet

@Mrs. Pen: lady, you NEED winter boots!!! Check 6pm.com!

@locavore_mama: I know! I need to stop being so cheap about them.

@Mrs. Pen: I know what you mean. I hemmed and hawed for two years about getting good insulated waterproof winter boots. Funny thing is the year I finally decided to buy a pair I got another pair for Christmas!

I have a sleeping bag puffer coat that hits just above my knees and then I usually wear boots. I always buy winter coats with hoods because I hate wearing hats! And I have a stroller hand muff that keeps my hands warm!

I'm so bad about this, if I'm headed to work I usually just dress like normal, and wear my down coat and maybe gloves. Then I shiver till the car warms up as I drive.
The ladies that wear leggings under pants, etc, don't you get super hot once you're at work? Or do you take them off when you get there?

@mrsjyw: I love them because they don't flatten my hair as much as a hat would. I can push it up a bit so it gives my hair more lift when I take it off. If that makes sense..

@locavore_mama: I have completely given up caring how people think I look. I have horrible hat hair every day when I go into work, but I'm over it.
Layers, layers, layers! I have a pair of Cuddl Duds that I usually wear under my clothes in the cold, but they don't fit right now. So, I go for layered sweaters, pants, thick socks, boots, gloves, hat, scarf, and a parka. Currently, I'm wearing DH's parka because mine doesn't fit. That unfortunately doesn't leave one for him, though, so we are going this weekend to get a men's down puffer that I can wear now and he can wear next year. I might try to find a pair of maternity long underwear as well, because I like to be warm!
Heck, it's even so cold now that we bundle the dog up before we take her out!

@IRunForFun: I don't take them off. My office is freezing cold, most men around here are wearing fleece vests!

ooh I really need to start wearing leggings under my dress pants. My thighs are SO cold by the time I get to work even with a knee length puffer.
@LovelyPlum: ha! I'm lucky that I bought a big puffer coat a few years back. It was oversized on me and still zipped up with the bump.

A scarf is a MUST for me! If I don't have that on, it feel 10x worse for me. I don't wear hats or ear muffs though, but I only need to make it through the parking lot most the time. If I'm walking around a lot though, I'll get ear muffs.

I always wear a scarf and I have a nice knee length wool coat that is very warm. I'm like 50/50 on gloves (they annoy me because they catch on my ring) and I don't have any nice ones anyways. I never wear anything on my head.

I wear tights then skinnies then boots and a zip fleece and a down coat and a hat. I want to find some good leggings...

@Reese: totally makes sense, no hat hair on top! ( i need one for DS ! LOL)

My sister gifted me a mid-thigh Canada Goose coat a few years ago and they've helped me to survive -40 temps. It's so warm that i don't really need to wear gloves as long as my fingers stay tucked in the sleeves. I don't even have to layer up too much, but sometimes i'll wear a thin hat and a scarf.
I had these North Face boots that kept my toes warm in -30 temps, but sometimes i'll just double up socks and wear a lighter pair of boots.

@locavore_mama: I found mine at pick your plum, of all places! They were only $8 each so I got two pairs.

I usually just go with a scarf and gloves, and my down coat has a hood, but it's been so cold this winter I've been adding a hat too sometimes. EVen though it messes up my hair I am SO glad I bought a good maternity down, puffer coat even though it was expensive, bc I really really have needed it, and my normal puffer would have been much too tight. I bought it in Nov so it's gotten a lot of use already! I got extra warm, insulated gloves from Eastern Mountain Sports because my little wool ones weren't cutting it anymore. I have one pair of maternity corduroys that I've been wearing a LOT lately because my jeans aren't super warm--I haven't tried layering leggings underneath, but I might try that soon. I actually bought maternity sweaters that are warmer than my usual ones, since a) it's colder this winter, and b) I'm doing a different kind of work this winter, traveling for research in places that are even colder than NYC, whereas the past couple winters I've mostly been working from our apartment or my department building on campus, both of which are heated to excess so I would boil if I dressed too warmly! I probably should have better winter boots but I haven't invested in them; on really snowy days I wear Hunters with wool or fleece socks, and otherwise I just wear riding boots. Or I have a pair of ankle high uggs that have a better sole than normal uggs and are a bit more weather-proof. I actually gave away a better pair of LL Bean winter boots last fall when doing a purge of my closet because I didn't wear them often (I would wear them for dogwalking but wore the uggs more often...) and I regret that now! oops....

A down coat with a furry hood, fur-lined boots or wellies, THICK gloves and a hat that covers my ears. I wear A a lot at the moment so I also have the Ergo on, a warm cover over that to cover A properly and a scarf that I use to shield A's face from the wind. A few weeks ago the ice was so thick I had to wear those boot attachments with studs on the bottom too. Oh yeah, we look cool

LAYERS! And a really good coat. I have a North Face jacket that is not puffy but resists the wind so well! It allows me to wear a little more inside without feeling too 'puffed up'.
For walking outside I got my trapper beanie (I only wear those because I NEED my ears covered, but earmuffs sometimes leave the rest of my head cold), a nice warm scarf that I cover my mouth with too, texting gloves, and this year's new addition are leg warmers! I wear them with socks too to maximize warm for my legs!
I also carry about those little heat pouch things just in case.
