Yes, I constantly feel guilty about screen time, esp as Janet Lansbury (whose philosophy I follow) just posted an article about it and today I feel extra guilty.
We were very good about screen time (we're not a no screen time house hold tho), but ever since I got pregnant, I just rely on it more & more...

@snowjewelz: the amount of screen time sky rocketed when I got pregnant and it didn't go down after the baby was born.
We are watching Daniel tiger right now. I got unreasonably excited when I saw we had a new episode (from July). We recently had to cut off all screen time for a couple of weeks because of the tantrums when I turned it off. It was getting bad.

I let my kid watch KidsCamp on YouTube in my bed so I could doze next to her and catch up on some much needed rest.

@Foodnerd81: Did it work to bring back peaceful human beings? I think I keep telling myself we must be okay b/c K doesn't have much epic tantrums, but lately... I'm not so sure!

@snowjewelz: well in addition to getting a new sister, my LO turned 2.5 and got 5 ear infections, plus a stomach bug and random virus, all in the first six months. So I can't say if the screen time made it better or worse but it was an epic 6 months. She still drives me insane but it's getting better, I think?

omg we're in a screentime black hole right now, it's bad. if we're home, she wants it. if we're out and she's in a stroller or in the car, she wants it. if we're at a restaurant, she wants it...so frustrating!

Mickey Mouse babysits for 30 minutes every morning while I get ready, and 30 minutes every afternoon while I make dinner. I love him.

We just watched a bubble guppies episode and I honestly just got done thinking about how 30 minutes just isn't long at all...

With morning sickness all-day, I watch HGTV while my toddler entertains himself wandering around the house and spreading chaos. So he doesn't get the screen time, but I do haha. If I'm in a bind, I just hand him the remote and watch him turn Pandora on and off by pushing his favorite buttons in different orders.

I have been known to say "can you just sit down and watch TV please?"

Some days I just NEED a nap, and I don't feel guilty at all turning on tv for my son and dozing on the couch next to him!!

@Foodnerd81: I'm about to cut off screen time too... I got terrible when I was sick in my first trimester and now we are all bad about it. I used to be so great about keeping it at under an hour max every other day (and often we wouldn't watch it at all for a few days), and one movie a week- hoping to get back to that!

We are watching Harry Potter for the second time today right now. The first time was so I could nap. This time I have no excuse other than being too pregnant to function.

Every morning I gave DS (4.5 years old) my phone so he picks 2x5 minute videos to watch, if he gets up, pees, wash hands, brush teeth, put on clothes, and come down stairs. I don't know when and if I ever am able to wean him from that...

@tlcbaby: being too pregnant to function is plenty excuse! I once fell asleep on the couch during Daniel Tiger and my then 2.5 yo had to wake me up.
@caterw: yeah after two weeks of NO tv at all I've started letting her watch an episode of Daniel here and there- we are moving in two weeks, I need her out of my hair. It's so hard to not have it as a br so at all! And YouTube videos are just too much for her. I let her watch it for a few minutes and she just melts down when I turn it off. Cut off.

Pregnancy caused an increase in screen time that we never really went back from. Right now as I type this DS is watching a show because he was so rough last night, so mama is exhausted and wants a few moments of peace. Nap time can't come soon enough!
