I didn't know liking comfort nursing existed! Lol I have over active letdown so comfort nursing isn't really an option here bc DD has to change her latch & technique to keep from getting a flood of milk & it ends up pinching my nipple! eek!

It takes like 5 MAAAAYBE 10 minutes to empty my breast & then she gets a pacifier until she gets her comfort nursing fix

As long as baby is gaining & has enough wet/dirty dipes you have a sufficient supply. Keep it up momma!

Its important to let them nurse but if they aren't actively nursing there is no reason to let them lay there and "nibble".

I think there is a 3 month growth spurt where they do want to nurse ALL THE TIME but you can try to help them learn how to wait for a "meal" instead of just a "snack". We tried to stretch LO to feeding every 2 hours (from start to start). Around 3 weeks and in the evenings it got hard to push her to that 2 hour mark, so we often fudged and let her nurse more frequently. It helped her really build up an appetite and she would actually eat for a long time.

I dont like it either because my baby will do this and breast millk will then be dripping out the side of her mouth and all over both of us... If I am confident that she really isnt eating anymore than sometimes I will break the latch but usually I just leave her

@Nskillet: we're at the same spot. I supplement with formula probably twice a day because I'm afraid she's not getting enough. I'm convinced I don't produce much during the day and more at night.
She loves to nibble as well and I've started unlatching her if she nibbles for more than a minute without swallowing. I hate to do it but Im trying to break her of it. I think it makes it harder for my husband because she needs it to comfort since he has no boobs! And it will make the transition to daycare harder as well.

Her poop has also lessened in the last week but I think it's suppose to at week 3?? Her wet diapers are still plenty. I'm tempted to take her to the peds for a weigh in tho!!

We only used nursing for nutrition... for comfort we used a pacifier. It worked great for us and he dropped the pacifier no problem when he found his fingers. Wouldn't have done it any other way!
