sorry this is a little long, but i would appreciate any advice/insight people have!

my 8-week old is not a great sleeper (i've come to accept this after weeks of beating myself up because i tried so many things to get him to fall and stay asleep peacefully without any success). i'm going back to work in a month, so i've been trying to record his sleep patterns more closely.

i noticed that he does the following with naps:
1. wake up for a feeding

2. after about 40 minutes of awake time, starts to yawn and stare off into space, so i put him down for a nap

3. about 1 hour into the nap, he wakes up. this is usually where the hardest part of my day is, because i used to pull out my hair struggling to soothe him and fall back asleep, and the fussing can go on for an hour. i started giving up a couple of days ago and just picked him up for awake time.

4. he's not rooting or hungry (in the past when i've fed him it's not a full nursing session and throws off the rest of the day). after tummy time and whatnot, i pop him in the carrier and give him a pacifier when he gets fussy. an hour after waking up, he starts falling asleep again and i put him in the crib and he sleeps for at least an hour.

he usually wakes himself up after another hour, but if he doesn't, i wake him up and we do a feeding.

did/does anyone's LO do this? i'm wondering if i should i be keeping him up longer after the first feeding? when he wakes up after an hour, should i tough it out and make him stay in his crib? i'm so confused.
