I think we may be dealing with some constipation. Today LO has had some pebble looking poops that are the consistency of play doh. He isn't straining and acts like he feels fine.
Any advice ? I've tried giving him a little water and he won't drink it out of a sippy or bottle. I just want his little poops to be normal !

Have you started solids yet? I so, pears r prunes are good. Or you can dilute a bit of pear/prune juice in that and give it to him in a bottle.

@hilsy85: I've tried apple juice (diluted!) - wont drink it. I gave him some prunes this morning hope that helps !

@coacheswife123: apples can actually increase constipation (don't know about the juice though..). Maybe try mixing some purée with breastmilk?

@coacheswife123: if he won't drink water/juice, try mixing it in with the purees. how many days has it been since he's had a good poop?

Apple juice never worked for us but the prunes definitely help. Just depends how constipated she is as to how long it takes to take effect. LO is also starting to get use to water, but still doesnt drink enough for it to help just yet.

Also just wanted to add that sometimes Los poops look constipated but he seems fine, and then it passes so if he doesn't seem uncomfortable or like he's straining, maybe don't stress too much!

Prunes. LO was mega constipated after her first week of solids and the day after we gave her prunes she pooped 11 times. Worked like a charm.

@pinkb: @coacheswife123: it was insane. We were on vacation and I had to go out and buy more diapers cause she pooped on everything I had. It wasn't diarrhea either totally normal poops. Poor thing was REALLY backed up.

LO only had a bowel movement maybe once a week for like a month or so before we started solids when he was only nursing (which is normal per our pediatrician) but after starting solids there wasn't very much more action. We tried prunes.... Without much success, and then we tried some whole grain oatmeal cereal (which has fiber) and that did the trick. He's been regular ever since. I only give him like 2tbsp. of the oatmeal. (Natures Best Organic)
