We just bought a house that came with a convection oven/microwave combo. I've never used a convection oven before though. What kind of things is it good to use on? What's the advantage?

My parents use their convection microwave as an extra oven sometimes. It also heats food up faster than the actual oven.

Our oven has a convection option. It basically circulates the heat and cooks a lot faster too! I usually turn it on when I'm in a time crunch.
Not sure if the same applies to the microwave?

We have one of these too! It's good for baking casseroles because it cooks more evenly. Do you have a regular oven too? We do, and that with the convection came in handy in Thanksgiving! We still don't use it too often but it's nice to have!

@Emsmems: We have a regular oven too, so I doubt I'll use the convection oven often. I'd have no idea how to adjust cooking times

When I lived overseas, a convection oven is the only oven we had! We made a lot of cookies and roasted veggies in it; it will cook up some roasted butternut squash in a heartbeat! I had a lot of success in cooking salmon in it too. It's great to cook things quickly in, but can be tricky and I felt I had to watch it closely.
