Any tips on getting a baby to like being in the car? C is 5 weeks old and she hates it. She just about always cries when we get in it, and 2/3 times she will continue crying for almost the whole trip (usually under 20 minutes). The other 1/3 she will cry and then settle or fall asleep, but it's rare. Today is was just about nap time, she'd eaten recently enough that she wasn't really hungry (though not totally full), and she screamed the whole time.
I can handle it for short trips but eventually we'll need to go visit my parents who live 5 hours away. I don't think she is uncomfortable in the seat, since she was fine when we had her in the snap and go base and were wheeling her around.
Any tips to help her like it, or at least tolerate it? Oh, and she will rarely take a paci. The only thing that seems to settle her a little is if I'm sitting in the back with her and put my pinky in her mouth, but I don't feel like that's very safe, since if we got rear ended I'm afraid I'd jab my finger into her.
I tried telling her that babies love the car and she wouldn't listen.
