There's a variety of grapes at my supermarket these days and they are called "cotton candy grapes"! Wow they really have a subtle cotton candy taste that is really neat. The kids obviously love them. I was wary of artificial additives or genetic engineering, etc., but apparently they are a product of old-fashioned cross-pollination.
Anyone else tried these? What do you think?

@chopsuey: I got mine at HEB which is a major regional chain in my area. But they are grown in CA so I think they could be in any chain where you live. You probably just need to keep an eye out. I think they are all being sold in the box style packaging. Hope you can find some!

Oh I saw those on the local news! Not sure how I feel about them... I mean, why grapes? Can't they make Brussels sprouts taste like cotton candy? Lol. My kids already eat grapes just fine, haha! I would try anything once though! They do sound neat!

We just bought these yesterday! They were just at my regular grocery store...although this was the first time I had seen them there. Mine were in a normal grape bag. After picking them up my hands smelled like cotton candy all afternoon 
They are interesting. A little sour at the beginning mixed with a good amount of sweet. They also taste a lot like grapes that grew in my childhood friend's backyard.

@SAHM0811: haha I know. I would be all over those brussels sprouts :-)! .I think they just did it because they could. They actually don't taste that much different. Just less tart.

@SAHM0811: Agreed! Grapes have a great flavor to start with. I'd rather give a sweeter flavor to something more icky lol

I need to find these! A while ago I tried Grapples (apples that were supposed to taste like grapes) and I was so disappointed - they just tasted like apples!

@chibee: I tried the grapples before as well, and wasn't impressed. But apparently they are infused with a grape flavor as they are being grown, so maybe that's why. As opposed to being a variety that actually has a more grapeish flavor.

@Ash: aw I'm sorry, they are pretty pricey I agree. I think they are tasty, but you're right, they are just grapes at the end of the day and a novelty grape at that!

@T-Mom: Hahaha don't be sorry! I didn't look at the price. I just said "have.to.get.these.grapes!" And they are tasty in that they aren't bitter... but I thought, after spending 8 bucks, they'd be tastier!

Updating this thread because we saw them at the grocery yesterday and picked them up! It was $2.99 for a bag (same price as other grapes), so I said, "Why not?"
I also remembered that my kids (especially my more picky one), highly prefer(s) red seedless grapes and they have both refused green grapes in the past a few times, so this would be sort of motivating for them to branch out!
Well, they both liked these! DH too, and he's picky!
I thought they were good also. The cotton candy flavor is subtle, I agree... After a while, they tasted like regular grapes, actually. I'm thinking we'll rotate these in, occasionally!

@SAHM0811: cool, I'm glad you guys liked them! I think they actually have a pretty short growing period so they may not be around for a whole lot longer until next year. I even saw them at whole foods down here so that means people are getting over the misconception that they are "unnatural". We are on our fourth box currently
