a cough i wouldn't go in unless it becomes wheezy. that could be the sign of a respiratory infection. but kids can cough and have a runny nose for weeks and weeks.

Since you said there is no fever, unless a cough is wheezy or barky sounding it's unfortunately one of those things that just takes time.

Have you taken LO into a steamy shower and run a humidifier while he sleeps? That helps mine with some of the gunky stuff.

We went today because LO said her eyes hurt on top of the cold like symptoms she's had for about two weeks. Sinus infection.

I don't go in unless there's fever, change in normal mood/behavior, or strange new symptoms.

I would wait it out. R has had a runny nose for 2-3 months.

@Smurfette: Not to alarm you but I thought I would share. My oldest had a runny hose and was always stuffy for 6 months straight after I had my second and I finally took him to get tested again and it turns out he has grass, tree, dust mite, and dog allergies! He was taking claritin/zyrtec every day but since we moved he's been okay. Occasionally, I have to give him some meds, but maybe the new air in a different country has helped? I hope! I suspect my youngest also has allergies besides peanut and dog. :\ Allergies suck.

@Smurfette: Oh it goes away then it's different! Plus, it is flu season so it's not uncommon for kids to get runny noses all the time. I keep a dirty tissue bucket permanently on the side table in the living room b/c every time I put it away someone gets sick again. LOL! I was getting tired of running to the trash can with a tissue every so many minutes. I think we're almost over the sickness hump...three months. Blech!
