Have you all heard about this? An Australian couple left one of their twins with the Thai surrogate mother. The twin they took home was healthy and the twin they left behind has down syndrome. The surrogate was only told about the child's issue when she was 7 months pregnant. The surrogate was not paid her entire fee.

Disgusting. But then again, if they can so easily abandon their child, the child is probably better off without them. They haven't even paid their full fee. I wish they were legally obligated to send money to support the child (as moral obligation obviously means nothing to these people).

How can you just leave your baby? And a twin no less? The other baby will grow up and eventually find out they have a sibling. I'd be devastated to know my parents abandoned them

I had heard about this, seriously so upsetting. In an article I read it seems like the surrogate who is raising him really loves him and he would have a better life with her then the heartless parents.

This makes my heart hurt. So glad that little boy has someone to be his mama, but I hope he never understands what happened. What horrible human beings. I worry for the daughter, being raised by them.

This is very big news here in Australia and everyone is outraged. It is an truly terrible thing to happen. I feel for the little boy, I feel for the twin and I feel for the surrogate, who was already struggling financially without another child. Hopefully this case forces reform to Australian surrogacy laws, instead of forcing Australians to look overseas where the surrogate is not protected.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Yes same articles although the first ones I read said she found out at 4 months. There is a lot of conflicting information at the moment and of course the parents are denying everything.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: At first they denied they had a twin, now they are claiming they wanted to take him home but were told he was going to die. A little suspect because I can't imagine leaving my dying baby.

This is absolutely atrocious. I can't believe parents would do this. Terrible enough to happen at all, but as a twin mom, my heart aches even more by the fact that he's a twin. I cannot fathom that there are people like this in the world ...

I read this the other day and it made me really sad. And worried about how those twins will be in the future. Will they even know about one another? Ugh, those AU parents make me mad!
