My little guy is 9 months old and since he has started crawling, he has been very cranky and clingy. Is this a phase because he's working on so many milestones? He's working on pulling up and cruising. Separation anxiety? I'm not sure if it's separation anxiety because he's fine when I leave him at daycare, but if I leave the room in the morning, he crawl stalks me and whines. It's making my mornings extremely challenging because I WOHM and I have to get to work, and it's hard with a clingy crawl stalking baby.

Okay, this is me! My LO is pretty much at the same stage developmentally and she is also 9 months old. Prior to this "stage" (okay, I am HOPING it's a stage) she was a very easygoing little girl and was happy to just play and hang out.
Very interested to hear what others have to say.

My LO is 8mo and we just started this. He is generally a happy, eay going baby but now he whines if I leave the room. Nighttime is worse for us though - he only wants me and will scream bloody murder if anyone (but me) tried to go in and comfort him. He is pulling up and starting to cruise so maybe it's related? I WOH too.

Yes! DS is 9 months aswell and is so cranky/whiney/clingy lately. He has been crawling and walking along furniture/behind toys for months now so I'm not sure that's the reason for him. He is teething - his 2nd top tooth is about to break through - so maybe that's it?
Anyways I feel your pain! I hope this phase passes soon!
ETA - sometimes when I need a few minutes a handful of Cheerios keeps him entertained and quiet

YES. Mine started a massive cranky phase at 9 months old. It seems to finally be passing now.

He was super clingy and cranky when he started crawling - just before 8 months - and it lasted until around 9 months or so. I think it was also a wonder week? I know B was a bit early so maybe it's that wonder week?
Since T learned to go from crawling and then back to sitting position, he is much less whiny. I think what was happening a lot wsa he would start crawling and then realize he wanted to do something else, but didn't know how.
When in doubt, I leave a trail of puffs on the floor and that keeps him busy for awhile. (Seriously, who does this other than me!?)

@winniebee: I just tried the trail of puffs and I think it motivated my dog more than the baby - ha!

Maybe he's just tired, he's been napping for over 2 hours. We are both home today. We are having a DC version of a snowmagedon so everything is closed. For people not from DC, this means more than 1 inch of snow.
