My LO is 6 mos old and is just about to start crawling. Besides his nursery, which is tiny, all of our floors are hardwood. Does any one recommend any special equipment that might keep his knees from getting sore or bruising? Or just let him tough it out?

Tough it out. No special equipment necessary.
We have laminate in 85% of our home and M learned to crawl just fine. -
Agree with toughing it out - my LO has been crawling for a month now and our whole bottom floor is all laminates. No bruises on his knees!

We got Soft Tiles for his playroom.

We put down a soft furry blanket, but that's more for head bumps.

Tough it out. He's going to get lots more bumps and bruises in the next few years than crawling will give him!

Tough it out!! Although my LO has ripped holes in the knees of several sleepers from crawling.

Our floor is tile and she would make all of this bang bang bang noises when she crawled. But we live in Florida and it's hot so she wasn't even wearing pants to protect her knees most of the time, just a onesie. She was fine though, babies are tough!

Tough it out! Our entire house is hard surfaces and LO is doing fine, although we don't let her play on the slate floor in our living room addition very often.
