Our LO who is 6 mos 3 weeks finally transitioned to a crib last month. He loves to star at things, so we thought maybe we should get him a mobile, but is it too late? Most babies seem to be most into them at younger age. So Hive, yay or nay on this purchase?

My LO (7.5 months) doesn't spend enough time looking up at the ceiling to enjoy her mobile/chandelier I got her. Maybe put it above the changing pad instead?

I agree with @BabyBoecksMom...over the changing table would be a great place for a mobile! I don't think I'll ever put one by the crib. I want to keep the crib as his sleep sanctuary not a play space.

My mom told me it was bad luck to hang stuff over the baby so she made me take it down (Chinese thing)! I got one that attaches to the side of the crib that plays music. We still use the music at 28 months!

We were gifted a mobile, we wouldn't have purchased one because I thought it was totally unnecessary. We eventually sold it too!

@Andrea: I was going to say the same. I think the moving mobile is too much stimulation but just a music player is a great idea

My LO LOVES her mobile...she's a little younger tho (4 months) but she loves to lay in her crib and watch her mobile (we call it her self directed play time). We got a tiny love mobile from nobetterdeal.com for around $20 (and I think it was the best $20 I could have ever spent).

we were going to use one but my brother said how the one for my nephew ruined their crib, so we don't have one. DS isn't awake in his crib for long and we also have a projector thingy that can go on his ceiling

@TurtleDoves: ours has the moving part, too, but you can remove it. When DD was younger, she liked to watch it. If she woke up early, I went in to turn it on and I could go back to bed! That was a big plus! It plays classical music so it's still nice to listen to now, without the moving part.
