My little guy failed his newborn hearing screening. Fast forward to now he's a year and a half, the Pediatric Audiologist and ENT have been following him with hearing tests. He is showing a hearing loss in one ear. The ENT is recommending a CT scan to check for inner ear abnormalities.
Anyone have a toddler who needed a CT scan? Did they need to be put under?

Yes, LO was sedated and they combined it with an auditory brainstem response test (he also has hearing loss). Is your LO in hearing aid(s)? How much loss does he have? Is it sensorineural?

@hotpink: not much to add on the hearing front but my nephew had a ct at 4 and was sedated. If possible and you can choose I'd do it at a children's hospital...it was amazing how well they took care of him...

@Applesandbananas: Yes, it's sensorineural hearing loss. He has loss confirmed in one ear only, could have loss in both. He really doesn't enjoy sitting through the hearing test in the sound field so they haven't been able to pin down the loss. The ENT wants to do the CT to check on the bone structure of his inner ear. We can't seem to get a straight answer on what the test could change about his management plan so I'm hesitating on doing it. He does not have hearing aids.
I'd welcome any advice you have

@Mrs D: Thanks for the input, we'd do it at the children's hospital, which I am extremely lucky is nearby!
