Do you go to a stylist that specializes in curly hair?
I am currently growing out my bangs and layers and then I want to find someone who cuts curly hair and get a new style that suits me!
Not sure if I can find on though w/o going into the city!

Absolutely! But it's so hard to find a good one. I have been going to the same guy for about 8 years but think I need to leave him as we have moved and I can't justify spending practically a whole day getting my hair cut.

I don't anymore, and I can tell. My curls are SO much better when I use a stylist that has curly hair themselves - they just *know* the right way to layer/trim/cut curls.

YES. Find a DevaCurl certified stylist. They should only be cutting it dry.

@Mamaof2: I never sought out a curl specialist, but my newest stylist has curls herself.
She cuts my hair dry. It makes such a huge difference!

@Mamaof2: Yes, absolutely. This is the salon I use - check out the before and after photos.

@JoJoGirl: wow! I looked up a deva curl stylist and found one a few miles from me - yay!

@JoJoGirl: Woah - that is incredible!!! I would totally pay good money to make my curls improve like that!

@swurlygurl: It's not even crazy expensive as downtown city prices go - I think $70? Higher end but not like, outrageous.

@JoJoGirl: I checked out the nearest trained salon near me, and their prices are all around $30 - $40 for full cut/style! That's insanely awesome. I just need to grow out some bad (aka SHORT) layers before I go see what magic they can work on me...

@swurlygurl: WOW, that's great!!! I'd just go see them - at the very least they can blend the layers so the short ones aren't as obvious.. they definitely won't cut them.

I also vouch for Devachan! They really know how to cut and shape curly hair. Also, the whole service there is just so relaxing. A little pricey, but I only go maybe twice a year.
