That would be a huge NO. I worked in customer service, and then retail, for years. Whoever came up with that phrase needs a good slap up the back of the head, if you ask me

Definitely not! I deal with patients all day at my clinic and I am SO thankful to have a great support system with supervisors. We were told in training that we have the right to tell a patient to stop using profanity, be respectful to us and even disconnect the call if they won't comply. I am really blessed to work in a place that supports the employees as much as the clients.

No--usually they are not! I have spent too long working in restaurants to know that!

No, of course not!
But having worked CS for a small retail business (I was CS for the online site), even if the customer was clearly wrong my job was to make them feel like their concerns/complaints were heard and the situation rectified to their satisfaction, i.e turn a mad customer into a happy customer, even if they were wrong.
My then-boss was of the mind that one mad customer who felt that I didn't listen/care about what they had to say was a customer that we'd lost, but if I could address and handle their complaints to a point of satisfaction they would be much more likely to be a repeat customer and recommend us to other people (not to mention what could have happened had I let a customer stay upset--you never know what kind of audience they might have! It could have just been one lost customer, or it could have been dozens or more).

No way! I give so much props to anyone that works in the CS industry because a lot of times they deal with rude/self righteous customers that demand the impossible AND they get no appreciation after.
I used to work for a shoe company, once some lady sent pics of her pair of broken shoes (from season so old that no one has a record of it) to the CEO of our company!

NO. I always strive to give my customers excellent service when they are polite or even when they have a complaint...as long as they are being level headed and trying to address it like a human being. Unless they were seriously wronged of course. But when they are being rude or out right trying to lie their way into something I have a zero bullshit tolerance. Sorry.
I just think that's how life should be. Lol

No, I hate when I can tell people around me at resturants are purposely complaining to get a cheaper meal...so disgusting.
