I really want a cute outfit to bring LO home in. I'm due at the end of July. My LO will be full term, but my first left the hospital at 4 lbs 11 oz, and this one is also tracking small. I imagine she will be in the 5lb range based on my ultrasounds. I feel like I've looked everywhere and just haven't been able to find a special looking take home outfit/outfit to take hospital pictures in! Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

I just put dd in a Carter's sleeper. She was so tiny, I just had someone go grab something preemie for her!

Have you browsed Preemie Store? It's not dress up clothing but still a bigger selection than Carters.

My DD was 5 lb 15 oz and we brought her home in one of the Gymboree 5-9 lb onesies like @loveisstrange: mentioned. It was still a little big on her, but not too bad. (She did lose 12% of her weight in the hospital but I can't remember what her weight was when she was coming home)

I stuck with Carters since I didn't want to spend a lot of $$....they had decent stuff but it certainly wasn't super special or heirloom quality!

Baby Gap has a under 7 lbs size. I don't know if this is special enough looking, but I think it's sweet for a July baby girl.

@LemonLong: if all else fails, you could do a gown. The NB size gowns are really like a one size fits all type-thing. I brought a new NB outfits for LO, but he left the hospital at 6lb7oz (feeding issues, he was born at 7lb8oz). Basically, he was SWIMMING in his NB outfit (carter's), so we had him in gowns at home until he gained back some weight.

I liked Carter's preemie stuff better than all other brands and FYI, GAP runs really large, so even though it says under 7, I wouldn't bank on it fitting. I picked a cute pants set with a sweatshirt (which is silly, but I liked it).

Just wanted to chime in that Gap's under 7 lbs size is huge. LO is probably close to 7 lbs if he hasn't hit that point yet and a sleeper in that size is hanging off his legs. A romper in that size goes past his knees!
