My dad's 70th is this weekend and my parents are coming for a visit. My dad is not excited about his birthday. His uncle passed this last year and he's now the oldest in his family.

We're having a little party with my brother's family and then a non-birthday St. Patrick's Day brunch on Sunday with my dad's brother and sister.

My dad is sentimental but he doesn't like stuff. I would think planning an extra trip would be nice but we're already getting together more than usual over the next few months for weddings and vacation. I suggested getting a sitter and having a grown-up meal in addition to the "party" with the kids but he shot that down.

His interests are his grandkids, swimming, push-ups and crossword puzzles. Any ideas?
