LO is getting his top molars. I was just ticking him and noticed where his gums are swollen there is a large dark spot. It hasn't broken the skin. Normal?

Is it dark blue, kind of like a bruise? That sounds normal. The molars just take way longer to break through and sometimes this happens. My kid's gums looked like that for weeks until the teeth came out

If it looks like a bruise or a black pearl underneath it's normal - I was totally freaked out when I first saw DS's!

It is really swollen but he won't let me touch it. Ahhhh it looks soooo bad!

It's probably a blood blister, LO got one when one of her teeth were coming in. Sometimes they burst when the tooth breaks through and then have a bloody mouth, FYI!

I agree with @JessKas: it's probably a sac of blood. The pediatrician made DH bring R to a pediatric dentist because she thought R had an abscess. It was a sac of blood with her erupting molar. It's normal!
