We are starting to get concerned that when it does come it will be like a cannon fire!
Should we try something to move it along? We have never had constipation issues and she's always been a reliable 2-a-day pooper. She has been saying she needs to poop but it just won't happen on the potty and I don't want to pressure her.

And she's eating raisins now. I am thinking we will need to graduate to prunes if there is no poop after her nap?
She has needed to poop since last night and has told us multiple times. I just don't know how to get her to get it out?

@daniellemybelle: we have a poop book lol. My LO wouldn't sit long enough on the potty so I bought P is for Potty (starring Elmo) and we read it when he says he needs to poop. Maybe try reading to keep her on the potty long enough to relax and poop?

Does she have a stool to Rest her feet and give her some leverage? Holding poop seems to be pretty common with potty training but it's definitely not healthy. Depending on circumstances (which I obviously don't know anything about from your post), I might abandon training for the moment if she still wants to poop in her diaper.

This happened to us too with our 2x per day pooper...he didn't poop at all the first 2 days, then pooped on the floor for 2 days (once per day). then he figured out what was happening and pooped in the potty almost every time since! we did naked waist down until poop was figured out and it worked for us. Don't go too overboard with the anti-constipation stuff...if it ends up being diarrhea she might get even more freaked out.
Another thing that helped was having the little potty in the living room. he would play right up till he needed to go. he doesn't spend more than 30 seconds on the potty at a time.

I did prune juice and let lo poop in pull ups.. Once she got pee she got poop within a week. I didn't do a "method" though so I'm not sure if that's compatible with how you're doing potty training.

@avivoca: We watched The Poop Song 4 times sitting on the potty and talked about pushing out the poo poo. No dice. Also, is this who we are now?
@catomd00: So we are doing OCPT who definitely does not recommend returning to diapers. She is doing really great with peeing in the potty. I think she was totally ready! I do think we just need to figure out how to get her "over the hump" with poop.
As far as a stool - She has a little potty chair and her feet are firmly on the ground. When she goes on the downstairs toilet in our hall bathroom, she uses a seat reducer, so we have stacked books on a stool so she has leverage. She's not even trying to poop though.
@Mrs. Lion: That's a good point about diarrhea. I just don't want it to hurt her coming out I am glad it worked for you! Hoping the same for us (maybe minus poop on the floor but hey I'll take any poop at this point).
She really doesn't have any issue sitting on the potty reading books or watching videos, so sitting long enough is not really the issue...
@2littlepumpkins: LO is wearing pull-ups for naps and bedtime and at this point I wouldn't be too bothered if she pooped in her pull-up. But we are doing bottomless during the day and I'm not sure I want to confuse her by giving her a pull-up just to poop in. I've thought about just leaving her pull-up on for a little bit when she gets up from her nap today though, just to see if she will even start to go, and then I can take her to the potty really quick... But I don't even think that will work. She definitely sees pull-ups as different than diapers and I think it would upset her to poop on Doc McStuffins or Sophia the First!

@daniellemybelle: It took awhile before H would poop on the potty. She's done it three times now but definitely still has accidents. We haven't tackled peeing though.

Well, LO woke up from her nap a bit ago, and when I walked in the first thing she said was, “I pooped ‘Fia!” (Meaning Sophia the First on her pull-up.) I’m honestly just glad she pooped.
We flushed it down the toilet. I said “Where does poop go?” She said: “Pants!” (Meaning her pull-up.)

Potty training is going well otherwise though so I guess it's not a big deal if she poops after her nap in her pull-up for a while....? I would much rather that than her being constipated!

My son did this when we first started training him. We started training before the summer began and it seriously probably took about 2 months to pee train. Just in the past 2 weeks he has started pooping on the potty, seriously it took us like 4 months. He still has poop accidents but we are turning the corner. So I clearly have no advice but offering commiseration. Potty training sucks big time!

We're doing the OC method too and mostly she has gone down to pooping every two days. She gets most of her pees in the potty or toilet but poops are hit and miss. I think the book suggested giving coconut to help things along!

@daniellemybelle: Sadie only pooped in her pull up during nap time for a long time. We would get an occasional poop in the potty if it was an emergency situation, but usually she would just wait for nap time. One day she just decided she was ready to poop in the potty, and she never went back. People told me it would happen, but I didn't believe them... but it's true! She'll do it when she's ready. I promise she won't be the only college student in a pull up!

@Canoli: It's exhausting! I'm glad she has picked up peeing (though I do have to prompt regularly - she's not consistently self-initiating) but I know it will take time to get there with the poop.
@travelgirl1: I looked it up on the author's blog and she said that naptime poopers usually sort it out after a while so that was reassuring. Honestly, as long as LO is pooping I'm not too worried that we will get there. It was the holding it that was stressing me out! I did give her a couple prunes this afternoon and then she pooped on the floor... Not so great but at least I know that moves it along!
@photojane: How long was "one day"? Like I said above the author of the Oh Crap book says it will usually sort itself out after a while but if it is months and months, you should nap/night train to take away the crutch of the diaper. Hoping we don't need to do that!

We are 2 1/2 months in and pee is 90% there...just some accidents, but poop is a whole different story. I'm hopeful it will click at some point! Today I saw a strange looking dog poop in our backyard and I actually assumed it was my son's first. He corrected me and said it was not...
I would just keep her hydrated and avoid the print type stuff...

@daniellemybelle: yeah, the holding is stressful, but at the same time, when they hold it they are learning to use their muscles so they don't just poop anywhere. We have had several poops on the floor too But OMG when they finally go over to the potty and poop in it, it's like the heavens open!

The first few days of potty training LO didn't poop much at a all- maybe just a tiny amount in the potty. Then she started having accidents in her pull-ups at school from holding it too long and then really needing to go, and I also think she was scared to go on the potty to go poop. We got some little gum balls for her and told her that they were if she went poop in the potty and we also got a book on poop, everyone poops. She's doing really well now, probably going every day at least once on the potty, so I really think it just takes some time for them to learn.

@daniellemybelle: she was pee trained in January. That only took her a day or two. She wasn't pooping in the potty regularly until May, and exclusively until July. She is only 2.5, so I didn't feel any pressure to hurry her. She decided to get rid of the pull ups without being forced out of them. And I will say, life was easier with the pull ups, because having to "poop" quickly became a bedtime stalling technique haha

DD held her poop for naps the first two days. Then pooped in her little potty while I was putting the baby to nap on the third day and then never looked back.
She did tend to hold it a little more than she would have with diapers but within a week she was back to get regular schedule.
Hopefully it works out the same for you.

@daniellemybelle: she pretty much just asks for a pull up around 7.30 evey evening and then stands in a corner to poop in it. If we don't let her she withholds for days and becomes horribly constipated.

So, today, LO has said, "Poo poo on the potty," or "I want to poo poo," 10+ times. Bless her heart. Pee is going great even with loose shorts commando. At one point she started trying to climb up on her dresser where the pull-ups are and said, "I need 'Fia to poo poo." Meaning she wants to poop in a Sophia the First pull-up. We just kept trying the potty and I could tell she wants to but just has no clue how to even get started, poor thing. I don't know how to help her! She's napping now in a pull-up and I kind of hope she poops just so she isn't constipated but I also would love to get her to go in the potty mostly because SHE wants to!

@daniellemybelle: I know it's not ideal, but let her watch you. Let her stand in the bathroom while you're pooping so that she sees that it's not a big deal, and it's what "big girls do." Sometimes we would "push" with her. In the beginning when the potty freaked her out, and she was confused by it, I would sit on the floor in front of the toilet and hold her hand, and explain pushing to her. I would pretend to push and make a "pushing" face, and ask her to push with me. It sounds so ridiculous and gross, but it actually helped!

It took about a week to start pooping on the potty regularly. The first couple days she held it. The next couple days she would go in her pull-up at night. Then she finally went in the potty. It definitely helps when they are self motivated! My daughter wanted to poop in the potty but she just had to get over that initial fear of it. So she kept trying on her own accord and eventually got it. It took about another week for her to feel completely comfortable with it. I would just keep encouraging her to try to poop in the potty. Dd liked the princess potty book and that def helped! Eta yes agree w pp. watching you poop helps too! Dd wanted to be like momma so she kept trying!

@daniellemybelle: Did you read the poop chapter in the book? There was something about using playdoh to get them to understand how you have to push it out. Sounds like she knows when she needs to go but isn't connecting the pushing out on the potty and thinks she needs the comfort of the pull up

@daniellemybelle: I don't know how old your lo is exactly but mine was already over 2.5 because we had put PT off due to other stuff going on (moving, etc) so she definitely understood and asked for pull ups for poop or pooped in her undies a few times. Then one day it was just ok. We did rewards but not sure it helped transitioning with poop. That tends to be her pattern though- massive push back, crying, etc, then suddenly a-ok. Wish I had a better suggestion for you. 
Sounds like she will come around soon though!

@photojane: I have let her watch me! Described the process as it was happening and had her look in the toilet and everything. It was the highlight of my parenting career. Sitting and pushing with her is a good idea, though.

Did anyone already suggest letting her have the pull up bug having her sit in the potty with the pull up on to poop, so she has the comfort of the pull up but can get used to being in the right position? I read that somewhere as a suggestion

@daniellemybelle: 23 months is young! That's when we starting PTing with Sadie (she turned 2 in February, PT'd in January). Honestly, there is such a big cognitive difference between a 2 year old and a 2.5 year old, that giving her a little time on the poop front made a HUGE difference. I know it sounds crazy since it's only a few months difference, but she understood so much better this summer than when we first started. She was much better at vocalizing her needs/feelings too.

An update on our poop saga: LO didn't poop today at all, not even in her nap pull-up. She talked about it CONSTANTLY, including dozens of "Uhoh! Poo poo on the potty!" and we would run to the potty but she wouldn't go.
After her nap, I had her sit on her little potty in front of Daniel Tiger (and queued up the potty episode) eating prunes and drinking juice for about an hour. Several times it seemed like it was about to happen. I tried giving her space. I tried talking her through it. Nothing. A few times she said, "Ow, ow, ow, poo poo."
A bummer is that I feel like all the fuss surrounding poop has made her more resistant to peeing on the potty. We just had the one pee accident early this morning but toward the end of the day she had to be convinced to try to go pee. Bleh.
@Mrs. Lion: That's a good idea. I really want pull-ups to be reserved for sleep but maybe that can be a last ditch effort.
@photojane: That's good to know that we will get there! I just hate that she is holding it.

@daniellemybelle: Maybe you could just let go of the poop thing altogether and tell her not to worry about it? Does she choose to sit on the potty for a long time? Maybe she is tensing up because she is feeling anxiety about it and pretending it's not an issue will help her relax. It sounds like she isn't able to just poop on command yet, so trying to get her to do it on the potty might be counterproductive? I don't know...potty training is so hard
Could you spend a whole day at home with nothing on below the waist again and not mention the potty at all (but keep a little one in the room with you so she sees it throughout her day) and just see what she does?

@Smurfette: So I read the poop chapter of OCPT again and the playdoh thing was more for kids who aren't holding it, to show them when they should say they need to go. I will try it with her though.
@Mrs. Lion: I don't know either it's not like I am harping on her or pressuring her. But when she tells me "poo poo on the potty" I try to help her.
I feel like not mentioning the potty at all is counterproductive to her pee training? I backed off the prompts somewhat yesterday and she did fine but she's not to the point of 100% self initiation yet.
I downloaded the Bees' ebook about constipation and I am going to call the pediatrician today. I'm also trying to remind myself it's only been 3 days.
