What did you/will you bring for treats for your LO's first birthday at daycare?
My son is in the older infant/young toddler room (ages range from 10-15 months, though I think most of them are now over 11 months). They do a birthday crown, sign, song, and you can bring treats to share.
What would you bring for a treat?

I'm making banana oatmeal muffins with almond milk. Going to make a little topper for her cupcake!

We weren't allowed to bring anything homemade so I brought donut holes. I wanted it to be a treat but nothing that would make everyone bounce off the walls all day.

@winniebee: @regberadaisy had an awesome idea of sending a card and asking if it was okay to send a treat.. i'm totally stealing the idea..

I definitely think you should ask the teachers what they think. They'll know about dietary restrictions, homemade vs store bought, and how parents feel about sweets.

For that age I'd probably just stick with a variety of fresh fruit.

I should add that they have a list of stuff the people bring (white cake, muffins, fruit...) but said to ask, too. I think maybe I'll just do blueberry muffins or some other muffins. Less controversial than cupckaes!

@pelikila: it's the healthy option, but I send DS with fresh fruit every day, so I feel like it won't be "special"!

@winniebee: ask daycare, mine had a list of approved treats that were more of a guideline. Also when the last parent brought in treats they asked J first if it was OK. So if you wanted to do cupcakes I'm sure/hope they would ask the parents then they can say yay or nay.
I would personally say nay.

@regberadaisy: yeah, i just mentioned mine has a list of approved treats and white cake is one of them. so, i know it's approved but i also know that not all parents want their kid having cake!

@winniebee: have you seen what other parents have done? Each time there has been a birthday at our daycare, I have seen cupcakes and cakes brought in.
It's a birthday! In my family we celebrate with cupcakes so, that's what I'm taking in! I bet you the majority of parents at your daycare feel the same way.

@mediagirl: he's only beeen there for 1 birthday so far...that parent brought fruit. another parent i know brought sushi (just the rice). another birthday is next week, i think.

Oh and I should add, I AM that parent that won't let her kid take part in the sweets until she is 1 but after 1? Whatever. I just want her first taste of sweets to be at her birthday party.

This is going to sound horrible, but I don't think I'm going to send anything for LO's first birthday. She's a Christmas Eve baby and won't be at daycare on her birthdays. When she's old enough to care, her daycare mama and I'll determine a different day to celebrate, but that's well over a year away. Maybe when she's 3 or 4?

I spoke with the daycare director and she said muffins would be better than cupcakes. So, I'm going to bring in mini muffins. Just need to figure out what flavor and where to get them now!

I didn't take anything to her daycare and i don't want her to eat anything at daycare except what i pack in her lunch bag. I all just really picky about what she eats
