I think its normal. Your husband gets paid if he takes vacation or sick time, right? We pay for 50 weeks at our daycare but it's an in home.

Any time T takes off for herself-including the week of christmas, any sick or random days (she's randomly taking Monday off), plus her yearly personal vacation in July, we don't pay for. So we pay for 50 weeks a year. (Although that week in July, we send E to the backup sitter so we pay her). Once a year, we can take a week of vacation, too, and not pay. So we pay 49 weeks a year if WE take a vacation. But if E is sick or we take a random vacation day, we still pay.

Ours is a little different but they close for a week for fall break, two weeks for Christmas/New Years, and a week at spring break. They also close for pretty much every federal holiday. We still pay the same those months. But our daycare is more of a preschool. They are also a little more affordable than daycare centers.

We go to a Center and I think there are a total of about 2 weeks that they are closed... probably 10-12 weekdays. We have to pay regardless. I looked at a few in-home daycares and they all had at least 1 week of paid vacation + 2 or more personal/sick days.

My work has on site daycare and we get two weeks of vacation. It sucks when you are paying for something we don't use but just look at it as a sunk cost and try to enjoy any extra time we get with her

We pay her 2 weeks vacation and we still have to pay if our LO is sick. Most holidays are paid but we only go part time so that usually doesn't affect us. There are also times during the year that she will take off unpaid. We also get a week of vacation to take each year.

Our daycare closes between Christmas and New Years and we still pay for the full December tuition. If we take a vacation, they discount our tuition by 50% for those weeks. However, it has to be a full M-F week which is annoying because we don't always take off exactly between Monday to Friday.

It's normal to pay for the time when the center is open and you don't use it, like if your child is sick, or you go on vacation.

When we were using a center, they had time off on the week between Christmas and New Years and that was a week that we still had to pay for, as it was a paid time off period for the staff.

I know for ME it was difficult to come around to the idea that you pay for time even if you don't use it, becuase I am not a salaried worker (if i don't book hours I don't get paid), but once i recalled the paid time off I had as a salaried worker, it all kind of made sense.

We can do two weeks vacation, and we pay half tuition for those weeks.

Sounds like a very normal set up. We pay year round but daycare is closed for stats and for the DCP's own two weeks of holidays.

At our big center, we pay monthly the same rate, regardless of holidays or our own vacations.

Our daycare is closed for holidays, a total of 10 days this year, throughout the year. We also get a "Vacation" week, where when we go on vacation, we don't have to pay for that week.

I would not be ok with closing for 2 weeks at a time and still having to pay.
