Your daycare pisses me off.

I don't care how ridiculous it might be, I'd be upset too! I'm glad they realize it's a big deal and have apologized, but sheesh! I hope there's no allergic reaction.

At least it wasn't someone else's breastmilk?....

This after you just told them that he had an allergic reaction to strawberry or dairy the other day and had to go to the hospital??? I really feel that your daycare is not cautious enough/doesn't hire responsible teachers.... I would be more than pissed.

That's so weird - did they take someone else's bottle and feed it to your child? I can't even imagine. So, what did they do - give your breastmilk bottle to the kid who no longer has a formula bottle? I'm so confused!!

I would remove my child from that daycare, if possible. That kind of mistake is far beyond 'oops, sorry, no big deal!'. It is absolutely ok for you to take pride in only feeding your child breastmilk - I would have been devastated too.

I'm glad that they were honest and upfront about it.

I think something like this happened to us but it was never identified. One day they said she had 4 out of 4 bottles, but there was an extra bottle sent home at the end of the day. They said Oh maybe we marked the sheet wrong, but then that would have meant she missed an entire feeding (and at that age she would have been obviously upset). I think they fed her someone else's bottle. The BM is kept separate from the Formula so there is a chance it was a different BM bottle.

Since this isn't the first time you've had issues and a history of reactions, I would be LIVID and be in the directors office immediately.

I would be furious - this is honestly something I am paranoid about with daycare for some reason! I'm so so sorry. I hope Xander doesn't have a reaction and I honestly think they should go beyond apologizing for the situation, though not sure what they can do.

I know BFing is what's best, but as long as he doesn't have an allergic reaction having formula once isn't going to hurt him - and to keep it in perspective, you're BFing to keep him healthy, not to be able to say you're BFing. I hope there's no allergic reaction and he'll be just fine!

But regardless, I totally agree with @locavore_mama that your daycare pisses me off. They fired your favorite employee because she needed some time off after a death in her family, they gave him puffs behind your back when they KNEW you didn't want them to, they've had trouble calming him when he's upset and question your instincts about how much food he needs, and now they're hiring new people who aren't being careful (and really, shouldn't you be busting your ass to make a good impression as the new person? But she's paying so little attention that she switched his bottle?), and apparently they're not doing a good job training her if no one realized she had the wrong bottle until Xander was done eating! I would be looking for a new day care.

I'm happy they told you, but come on! Who is training this person? And why didn't she understand the instructions?

@wonderstruck: Wow thanks for the recap. @Adira: In that case I would start shopping for another daycare if I were you. All this reminds me so much of our ex-nanny. She didn't follow our rules, did things however she thought was right, and in return she would make me feel like I were controlling, wrong and crazy. I have been super happy after we were done with her and go to our daycare now.

I promise you, not all daycare is like that. And you shouldn't have to worry about what they are doing or not doing on a day to day basis.

Seriously?? How does that even happen? Aren't bottles at daycare labeled?

@Arden: I dunno, exposure to other people's unregulated body fluids scares me more than a potential allergen, I guess. And yes, agree about being pissed at the daycare!

Excuse me?! I would be beyond livid! In the grand scheme, it isn't a big deal (my baby has been exclusively FF since 6 months, so I obviously don't have anything against formula), but that's a pretty big mistake and not just an 'oops, my bad'.

It seems like your daycare is SO careless from all the other troubles you've had with them
