DH picks LO up around the same time. Usually daycare knows when pick up is and has everything all gathered for him already. Usually there is some small chitchat. Her teachers might tell him something hilarious she did that day. Or if anything was unusual, etc. In the beginning it was "we got her to nap longer than 40 minutes today!" LOL

The daycare teachers usual have all his things together when I get there, so there's really nothing to gather up. I stay and chat just a little if there isn't too much going on in the room. How did he eat/sleep? What did they do today? I see most parents just pop in and grab their kids and go though, so I think it's personal preference. My mom ran an in-home daycare while I was growing up though, and had good relationships with all her parents. It seems weird to me that parents just pop in and out and don't ever really speak to the person that spends the most time with their child.

When DD was in daycare we were usually some of the last parents to pick up which was nice because it gave us a chance to chat with her teachers. We usually asked how her day was. Most of the time they had her stuff ready to go but if we picked up early and they didn't, we'd gather anything we needed to.

Our pick up routine has varied as she has changed rooms. When she was an infant there wasn't any official class schedule or routine so whenever we came a teacher would try to help us gather up her things (bag, swaddle, bottles, papers, etc) and we would chat and we would be out the door.

Now that she's a toddler, they are usually in the middle of a snack or activity if we pick up early at 4 pm and it would be hard to ask the teacher to stop to help us gather her things. And now its less things to gather.

@yoursilverlining: the kids in my LO's class seem to really like me too! They always chant my LO's name when they see me and they will come over and try to play with me. It makes my LO a little jealous!

I chit-chat a bit when I'm there because I like to know about my LO's day and his overall mood. I don't have anything to gather. We just change his shoes and put his coat on. Everything else is already in his backpack. Most other parents I see are in and out.

I come in anywhere between 4:40 and 5pm, greet LO and start getting her ready. While doing so i chat with the caregivers, sign out and leave. I'm usually there for about 10 minutes.

I know some parents who grab all of their kid's stuff and put it on outside of the class.

I pick up all of the baby's stuff that needs to go home in my bag for daycare. Then I put her in her car seat and leave her in the infant room with her teachers while I go to the toddler room to fetch my LO and her stuff. I usually don't have time to talk to the teachers unless I have a question or concern about something.

I get there between 435-440 every day. I pick up R, get her sheet for the day, chit chat a little bit, grab her bag (everything is already in it for the day) and we are off. I don't talk as much in the evening cause 5 mins makes a big difference with traffic.

Now in the mornings, I give R to the her teacher, I put her up food and bottles, write down her first bottle, meal and diaper time. Then I talk to her her teacher. I am usually there 10 minutes. But it is easier cause in the AM there is only one other kid there. In the afternoon, there are 5 or 6 other kids besides R still.

We are at an inhome, I come every day at 5, so they have her bag, blanket, ect. all together & I usually sit on the ocuch and chat with our lady while getting LO rounded up (she hates leaving.) I stay anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 if another parent is there. I love our daycare lady so I enjoy chatting with her.

When i pick up from our day care the ladies usually hand our 3 month old over to me when i come in and we say hello and snuggle while they pack her bottles and cloth diapers i put her in her car seat usually her report is in her bottle bag. I ask about her day and when the last feed/change was, sign her out and we're off
