So I finally took the plunge and gave DD peanut butter and she got a rash around her mouth right away but it went away about an hour later. The doctor says that it is an oral allergy and to try again in a month.
I am not really sure what this means. Does it mean that she can eat peanut butter, will get a mouth rash, but isn't deathly allergic?

Aw, I'm sorry! Sounds like it's not something she's deathly allergic to, just causes issues. Poor bub!

@chopsuey119: OH. she also said that they never go into shock the first time they have it but they could the second time. so nevermind, so i guess she could be more allergic next time.

yaiiieee!!!! I have oral allergy syndrome (you can wikipedia it) but peanuts are fine for me. almonds are not. but obviously since this is the first reaction you'll have to wait and see what happens. Good on you for taking the plunge!

@mrs. wagon: I have this too with walnuts...I can still eat them, they just make my mouth itchy. Hopefully her allergy doesn't get worse!

Noooooo! I have an oral allergy to soy milk that developed within the last 5 yrs or so, but my reaction isn't severe. Hopefully your LO can overcome her peanut allergy!
