I screwed up big time today. It was frosty this morning so I told DD (3) that Jack Frost had been. She asked me about him and seemed to love the idea of him dancing in the garden and painting everything white. Then suddenly she freaked out, was terrified and crying because she thought he would come and get her. I hugged her and told her he was just pretend, not real and mummy was sorry for scaring her with silly stories etc. Anyway, she was fascinated by the idea of Jack Frost all day but scared at bedtime. She went to sleep whispering "Jack Frost is just pretend".

Ugh. Mummy fail. How can I make this better for her?
