Lol, I don't even pull my crafting out until LO is asleep.... which also isn't happening today
Am I the only one worried that they stop napping just in time for the newborn to come?

@artbee: the fabric literally just got here (apart from the Lorax print which is already attached) and the chair stays in the living room. Usually I don't pull stuff out till he's asleep.

@Navy_Mommy: Such cute fabrics! I think they just know there's something fun going on and want to be part of it.

@artbee: He DESPERATELY wants to help with tools, such a boy's boy! But he can't play with a staple gun, lol. When I was removing the fabric he helped, he knows hammer and screw driver so he would hand them to me and he was hitting the sides with his hammer while I worked.

@Navy_Mommy: So cute! I have the same problem with baking and cooking with my girly girl. She wants to help with EVERYTHING but I just can't let her touch a hot oven or stove.

@swurlygurl: obviously!! Luckily DH has a four day weekend so I should be done with it by Monday.

DH is also turning it into a rocker so I think I'm gonna make a skirt out of red Lorax print(like what's on the front of the arms)

I can't wait to see the finished product! It's going to be awesome.

@jmarionsmith: thanks! I love how it's turning out and I'm really glad I went with my initial instinct to do bold fabrics.

I would hire you to do crafty things for me! Lol

@Dapple Grey: seriously so far it hasn't been being crafty, it's been being patient!

@Navy_Mommy: so I'm sure it's much more involved than this, but are you just stapling the fabric along the "seam", then folding it over? How did you hide the staples on the red stripe part? Obviously I've never reupholstered anything in my life, but I'm interested in learning!

@Navy_Mommy: this looks awesome! I love seeing all of your DIY posts. Where do you get your fabrics? I am looking for inspiration fabric for our nursery but am getting stuck. The fabric I want I can't find so I am trying to find other inspiration.

I'm currently pulling apart the butt cushion to make a pattern! Lucky me DH got to come home for the morning.

I was able to save the original zipper - Woot! Usually successfully sewed my first zipper - Woot! I matched up the chevrons - Woot!

What a fun chair! We're big Dr. Seuss fans--I can't wait to see it finished--and the rest of the nursery!

You have mad skills. I've got this new-to-me recliner that I'd love to reupholster.

Very creative and fun! Thanks for sharing, you've got some good skills.

@evansjamie: it's an exhausting process. You remove staples till you feel like you have carpal tunnel (lol) then it's just a matter of putting things back on in the exact way you pulled them off. I luckily have a staple gun, I can't imagine doing it without one.

Finished one side... then stepped on a sharp metal piece I left on the ground (dummy) so I'm calling it a night and putting my foot up!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@allison: it's really just a matter of putting everything down exactly how you pulled it up. Some pieces have metal strips of spikes that can be rolled under the fabric and hammered down to completely hide it, others you staple then fold over. It just depends on the piece of furniture you're working on. (One of those metal strips is actually what I stepped on and punctured my foot lol)
