December TTC 6+ Months Support Thread `*.*`Let It Snow BFPs!!!`*.*`

Hi all! For those who used to know me, I am formally KelLeeLeee and changed my name!

    Cycle number/months TTC: 10
    CD: 3
    POAS date (if any): 12/28
Backstory: I'm healthy, have never been on bc, my cycles are normal and predictable. After 8 cycles, I went to my annual obgyn appt and my dr. sent dh for a sa. Turns out, he has <5 million sperm which is considered very low. He has a referral to a urologist, and I have a feeling I am in this for the long haul.
Plan for this cycle: I am going to continue to take care of myself and be as healthy as I can For dh he is going to try Fertiliaid and acetyl l-carnitine, as well as cutting out/down alcohol and eating a little better.
How do you celebrate the holiday season?: I am working Christmas day We are actually not sure what we are doing, we usually spend Christmas eve and day with my in-laws, but they might be going away.
Who do you most struggle to find a gift for?: Everyone! I am so bad!

Decided to jump on 2 POAS threads this month, why not And needing some support because we are at cycle #9 and on Saturday I found out THREE more friends are pregnant, one of which it happened after 2 months. Poor DH is kind of torn up and it breaks my heart... anyway, hoping for a little miracle this month.

    Cycle number/months TTC: 9
    CD: 1
POAS date (if any): Most likely New Years Eve!
Backstory: Been TTC for our first baby since May and since then, every.single.one of my close friends who could have gotten pregnant did, and after 1-2 months of trying! Granted, the first 3-4 months we had no idea what were doing, but we're at the point now where we are sad and frustrated and having a hard time being objectively 100% happy for our dear friends, which just sucks. Seeing DH's face each time I tell him AF arrived truly breaks my heart, I'm more sad that he's upset than anything. So I think this is the month he goes for a SA and I consider acupuncture.
Plan for this cycle: We are traveling to Australia RIGHT after my anticipated O date, so it's really to just enjoy the holiday season and enjoy our trip (hey, at least I won't be pukey and tired for it!). I'd like to see about acupuncture before I leave and I think it's time that DH gets a SA just so we can start focusing on where any problems might lie.
How do you celebrate the holiday season?: Obnoxious amounts of Christmas music, cozying up by the fire with our puppy, and sticking my face in our tree and breathing in the pine scent (haha). Oh and can't forget reciting lines "Elf" whenever I can (I love this season!)
Who do you most struggle to find a gift for?: Our nieces and nephews. Always struggle with something that is fun yet educational, and won't add to their clutter or is too materialistic!

Good luck ladies and thanks for having me on this support thread

@Bea: Thank you - I hope all of our stays are short, but it's good to have such a supportive place for all of us to congregate!

@YogiRunner: I don't know how old your nieces/nephews are, but my 3-year-old nephew just got this book for his birthday and thinks it's absolutely the best thing he's ever seen: http://www.amazon.com/Encyclopedia-Prehistorica-Dinosaurs-Definitive-Pop-Up/dp/0763622281 - educational, space-saving, and totally cool.

@YogiRunner: I have 12 nieces and nephews, so gifts stopped being fun for me to buy a long time ago since there are so many of them!

But one thing they love and request the most is target GCs. I used to be anti-GC because it seemed so impersonal...but to them, they LOVE the chance to pick out something themselves...and especially for the kids in the bigger family (my brother has 8) it means that they get to go shopping (which they don't often) and might even get one on one time with their mom or Granny.

I pair it with their favorite candy and they're in heaven!

I got a flashing smiley face this morning at cd9 on the CBEA. So I am hoping that means that body is getting back into the normal rhythm. It's right on time (if not a day or two early) for my usual cycle. But who knows when it will be solid.

    Eta: AND apparently EWCM too!

@MrsKRB: Welcome! Praying it's not a long haul! It only takes one, right?! Bummer to having to work Christmas day.

@YogiRunner: Welcome! Isn't it the worst?! I swear everytime CD 1 comes around and I get on Facebook to see a million pregnancy announcements. Sigh.
At least you'll be gone for a lot of your TWW! Maybe that will help take your mind off of it! I'm with you on quoting Elf (and Christmas Vacation) a little too much. I'm a big puzzle/book buyer for kids because everyone else in my family buys them toys...maybe something like that?

@MaryM: I'm really into gift cards for my niece...she's 11 and just that stage that I really don't know what to get her. Pairing it with her favorite candy is a great idea! I'll have to do that!

Had my HSG this morning and tubes were clear! She did mention that my uterus was not laying as it normally does but said that it doesn't affect fertility as it's purely an anatomical thing. She didn't seem surprised and didn't give me a term but my research makes me think maybe she meant retroverted uterus?? Idk. Will talk about it with my doctor when I see her next. Anyone else have this?

@babycanuck: you were totally right! Not bad. A lot of pressure. It was quick!

  12. Bea

    kiwi / 578 posts

@MaryM: Totally! She a little bit of a tom boy but is just now getting interested in dolling up a bit. Great idea!

    @raspberries @bea @marym thanks! i love this group already.

I LOVE that pop-up dinosaur book and might cheat and get it for both preschool age nephews (they live in different countries so will never know!) What a great suggestion, thank you!
The GC idea with candy is a really sweet idea too, I like how they can have a special trip to the store to pick up something fun. And I might also do the puzzle/book thing because in my mind, you just can't have enough new ones around.

Thanks again and for the warm welcome. Just what I needed at CD 1.

I'd like to join this board as well this month. I'm going to post my info, and then I'll go back and catch up with replies!

    Cycle number/months TTC: 20

    CD: 21

    POAS date (if any): 12/12

Backstory: We had no trouble conceiving our son C (he's 2.75 yo); only took us 3 cycles. We've been trying for #2 since May 2013, with no luck. DH didn't want to pursue testing since he was convinced every month was "our month" (my stepsons were 1 shot successes + our 1st taking 3 cycles). I finally went for a consult in July, had normal Day 3 blood work in Oct, and DH just had his SA in Nov (just got the results Mon). His count was pretty good, motility was good, but "there weren't as many normal sperm as they like to see". She doesn't think that's the problem, and doesn't think I need an HSG since there's no reason to think my tubes are any different now than they were 3 years ago. So, she suggested that if this cycle is a bust we figure out what our insurance covers, and go see an RE. She also told me to make sure to orgasm after ejaculation (whether he helps or not, lol), and put pillows under my hips and lie still for an hour after. I thought all of that was debunked (the supposed "upsuck" hypothesis, plus the pillows), but at this point, I'll try it anyhow!

Plan for this cycle: OPKs pinpointed O on Thanksgiving Thursday, we BD each day O-4 through O, so hopefully we covered our bases.

How do you celebrate the holiday season?: We celebrate with DH's family usually on Christmas Eve, but this year on the 20th due to travel schedules, then my family on Christmas Day, and his parents usually join us for Christmas dinner. I love the holidays!

Who do you most struggle to find a gift for?: My Dad - he is so good at guessing what things are before he opens them, which takes a lot of the fun out of it, AND he buys himself pretty much whatever he wants / needs, so it's really hard to find anything good for him.

@babycanuck: so jealous you're done shopping! I'm not nearly done. Oy. I hope your HSG shows that all's clear and ready for action!

@AmeliaBedilia: that book / plan sounds interesting, I may have to check it out if we're unsuccessful this month. And how do you do self-fertility massage, if you don't mind (or is that a euphemism for something else)?

    @Crystal: I'm sorry

@travellingbee: I'm sad to see you back here, I'm so sorry for your loss.

@YogiRunner: I'm on both boards with you! And I totally understand how you & DH feel. I've had several friends start trying and have babies in the time we've been trying for #2. And we're still trying. And it stings.

    @mrsjd: Congrats!!

to everyone on here! Hopefully there will be lots of happy holidays on this board

Those struggling for gifts for men in their lives (or maybe even in laws)...I just found that I'd pinned this forever ago and forgot about it

    https://www.etsy.com/listing/189148974/actual-handwriting-keychain-sterling?ref=sr_gallery_20&ga_search_query=handwriting+jewelry+keychain&ga_order=price_asc&ga_locationQuery=6252001&ga_page=1&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery

I'm hoping my SIL has something written by their dad (he passed away 4 years ago) so I can have one made for DH (and maybe the rest of the siblings too).

I usually leave the in laws to DH to figure out...but might go ahead and tell him I'm doing a surprise if SIL has something! (I told her I was just doing it for DH)

I will try to catch up on all the posts when I am less brain-dead, but to answer the self-fertility massage questions:
There are a number of ways to do it, but it's rubbing your uterus and ovaries in special ways during the first half of your cycle. There are videos online if you google. I am following the description in the Making Babies book.

@Bea: my POAS date should be NYE. Come on miracle baby!

@MaryM: Thats a really neat idea!

I am officially on CD2, and having the period from hell. I barely spot after my hsg, so I'm hoping this is my ovaries clearing out.

I have another re appt in two weeks, so I'm hoping we can start to move forward.

    Hi all,
I'm new to this forum. I am currently 6dpo and feel drained, achy, fatigued and a sense of fullness in the pelvic region with mild cramping. I've also just had a tummy bug. I even tested yesterday (TWICE) even though I knew it was far too early lol. I'm TTC number 3 and I already have 2 Boy's (5) (3).

    Good Luck to everyone!!!

@Bea: Thanks for the welcome! And yes, it's frustrating but funny. We've taken to extremes with trying to wrap things in tricky ways. I did get him one year with a shirt rolled up inside a wrapping paper tube that I cut to be the right size, wrapped and tied off with ribbons on either end so it looked like a big candy. That made him laugh. We've also tried boxes inside of boxes with various things of differing weights to throw him off. The man is scary good!

@Bea: anything salted caramel!! In fact I think I'll go get a salted caramel mocha from Starbucks right now!

I had my hysteroscopy and ovary ultrasound this morning. It went as well as it possibly could have! I don't have a polyp or anything at all. She said my anatomy is totally perfect!! Yay! So my CP was clearly just because of a genetically abnormal egg. This makes me feel so much better. She also looked at my ovaries and said that I have one follicle that is ready to release an egg in about three days. So she said we needed to get to it! yay!
