I have a deep freezer. It is so helpful. I buy tons of stuff in bulk so I love all the freezer space. When our fridge died we also got a bigger capacity fridge so it works out nicely

I'd love to have both, too! But we bought an extra freezer. It comes in handy to freeze home cooked meals, baby food/milk, and food in bulk from Costco etc.

I say deeP freezer!

We have an extra fridge in our garage. I love it for storing sodas, beer, and bottled water. I think we'll try to get a small deep freezer for breastmilk when baby gets here. If you can only get one thing I would go for the deep freezer because you will need a place for milk storage whereas extra drinks can just be stored warm and served over ice.

@mediagirl: hmmm... I'd go check it out and see if it's from someone who seems reliable. And obviously have them plug it in and make sure it gets cold. If they have the manual and a warranty, even better. But I loved getting ours-- they delivered for free and even carried it upstairs and set it all up. It's AWESOME for breastmilk because even if there's a power outage, if you don't open the lid it stays cold for something crazy like 4 days!

It's always full for us, too... I like to buy things in bulk so we always have it on hand, like bread, hamburger buns, hot dog buns, seaweed (a must for Asian families), fishcakes for soup (another Asian thing)., etc! Oh and it doesn't hurt to have a place for ice cream upstairs next to the bedroom

i wanted a standup freezer, but haven't been able to find one used for inexpensive. So my mom gave us her fridge / freezer combo.
