I don't have much of a birth plan, I am just not dead set on anything, but I am interested in delayed cord clamping.
Did your LO's cord get clamped immediately or was it delayed? Any particular reason you went with one over the other? I know sometimes medical complications change things.

We delayed cord clamping so that ds could get his full benefits from the placenta. we waited until the cord turned blue.

I really wanted to delay cord clamping, but because of my complications it was cut right away

With my first child my midwife did the delayed cord cutting but I had to have a c-section with my second so it was cut immediately.

I also had meconium in my water so they cut and rushed her to the station right away. most will actually delay cutting the cord since there are proven benefits.

emergency c-section and i was out. DH didn't even get to cut the cord, just trim it.

I requested to delay it, but the OB forgot and clamped/cut it about 30 seconds after BabyHabe was born... the hubs just got to trim it, like @pastemoo's DH.

We wanted to do cord blood donation and part of that requires the cord being clamped immediately. We know there are benefits to delaying the cord clamping but we really wanted to donate the cord blood as it could be extremely beneficial to someone.
Unfortunately, they didn't get quite enough blood from the pulsing cord so they weren't able to use it for donation With the next baby, we'll probably try for cord blood donation again and hope for a successful outcome!

It is standard practice for my midwife to delay cord clamping. She was placed on me directly after birth where they did her apgar test. Once the cord stopped pulsing, DH cut it and baby girl was brought up to my chest for skin to skin.

My OB asked DH if he wanted to cut it and it took him a little while to say "no way" so not really immediate but not really delayed either.

It was immediate. The cord was wrapped around DD's neck 2x.

We delayed. The OB that delivered LO is a big fan of it, luckily. I was told some others in the practice consider 30sec-1min delayed.

It was standard practice at my birth center to delay cord cutting. I have heard from others that it can have an effect on the baby's iron levels. Some breastfed babies don't get enough iron, and delaying the cord cutting seems to help. At least that's what I heard from my friend.

In my experience I haven't seen much benefit from delayed cord clamping so we just went for it and cut.

@Mrs. Jacks: That's what my OB said...she said that the studies related to it decreasing anemia were done mainly in third world/poor countries, where there were likely other factors in play?
Regardless, I think we're doing cord blood banking, so will likely not do delayed clamping.

@hilsy85: that's correct. And I've never had an instance where I've saI'd "man I'm so glad we delayed cord clamping!" Whereas maybe a handful of times I've said to myself," hurry up already. This baby needs resuscitation not delayed cord clamping!"
I should say that most of the time it doesn't matter one way or another whether other people do it.

Mines was delayed and I never had to voice my opinion on the matter, in fact, I was so exhausted/surprised/shocked when I delivered, I was pretty out of it and wouldn't have been fine with anything. I my fluids were heavily tainted with meconium but that didn't seem to matter.
They let me pick her up and place her on my chest with her cord still attached for a good 30 mins or longer. My afterbirth stalled a bit and I pushed with her on my chest still attached to her cord. That I remember vividly because she was kicking my stomach and it was hurting. I had to hand her to DH and that's when her cord was finally cut.
