Interesting--thanks for sharing! So many decisions to make when giving birth.

I was surprised to hear at our birthing class that this is actually the standard practice in our health region. They said all but the most old school doctors in this district (or emergent situations) tend to default to clamping after the cord has stopped pulsating.

I kind of assumed it was a new age, crunchy idea. But I guess BC is kind of a new age, crunchy area.

We also did delayed clamping until it stopped pulsing and I think it's a pretty common request at our hospital. The doc and nurses were like "sure! of course!"

We did delayed clamping. My mw waiting until it stopped pulsing and then asked me if she could clamp. I appreciated her support!

@bisous: I've heard this from a few obgyns & it really baffles me.... like will blood going to our feet reverse & flow back to our heart if we turn upside down? (obviously not) lol... I could see how it might slow the flow but it's pumping it into the baby just like our hearts pump blood to our feet (even upside down). *shrugs shoulders*

I wanted to delay but I had a tough delivery and the cord was wrapped twice around DS neck. Hopefully this next time!
