Are there any women out there who have had a positive experience with the depo shot? All the reviews I read are bad!!....Just had my first shot last week...

I had a friend who loved it. I have no idea what her experience was when she was ready to start a family but she used depo for years very happily.

I liked it when I was on it. I was on it for 3 years I think. Then my dr switched me to the Nuva ring because I was suppose o take calcium supplements if I wanted to stay on depo.
If I were to go back to BC, I would think about the Nuva ring or Depo. That's just me.
Actually when I got off BC, is when I got really bad PMS. My DH used to have to hide in a bunker if my period was coming. I don't get so moody anymore, maybe it was my body trying to adjust to being hormone free.

I loved it so much! I can't remember how many years I was on it (maybe three or four) but I had absolutely no negative side effects whatsoever. I didn't gain any weight (actually lost weight and I'm thin to begin with), stopped having a period pretty much straightaway, had no PMS symptoms, and really just loved everything about it! I went off it as I thought it would take ages to get my cycle back but within three months of my last shot wearing off, I was pregnant.
I know I seem to be in the minority in that I loved it, but I really had a great experience on it.

@Ree723: ohhhhh good, I hope I have your experience! !! I'm currently breastfeeding and they said it was safe to be on. Just really really don't want to gain weight since I'm already eating 500 or so more calories a day!

I loved it while on it, but had a horrible time coming off it (not totally sure though if it was the depo itself, my bleeding disorder or a mix of the two) Hope you have a good experience with it!

Was on it for 9 years pre-babies, going back on it on the 21st!
I hated it and believe it factored into an mc following coming off and ttc, but I get it, so much as that still really hurt.
