Anyone here have (or had) DeQuervains tenosynovitis? Or "mommy thumb" is apparently one of the nicknames. I got it in my right hand when LO was around 8-9 mo and tried all the regular conservative things (NSAIDs, ice, bracing) until I was pretty debilitated and wearing a brace 24/7. I finally got into see a hand specialist, probably later than I should have, and got a steroid injection. Things have been great for the past month but my wrist has been getting progressively a little achy and now I'm certain that the DeQuervains is back. I'm pretty frustrated because I ice my wrist every night and wear my brace at night, and now I think I'll need surgery to actually take care of it. It's hard to ignore because it gets to the point that I can't use my right hand which is my dominate hand!
I'm worried about the surgery because I WOH part-time, and while I can probably make things happen with work (I do have to type some, but could do it one handed for a short time I guess), I am the primary caregiver for LO 2 days a week (and in all honesty on the weekends too, but DH can pull more weight if needed) and she's just barely walking. I carry her a lot, not to mention in/out of crib, car seat, changing table, etc. She's huge which is probably the underlying issue.
Anyone with experiences to share/commiserate?
