I started having symptom's of DeQuervain's tendonitis in my right wrist when LO was about 6 weeks old. It progressed to severe pain pretty quickly and I started wearing a thumb stabilizing brace and taking NSAID's around the clock (I only take my brace off to shower, wash my hands, and occasionally to feed LO). LO is now almost 6.5 months old and things haven't gotten any better. They might even be worse...
Does anyone have any experience with treating this tendonitis after it has been manifesting for a while? How long did you experience the pain/immobility? Did you eventually seek help from an orthopaedist or other doctor? Did you need a steroid shot or surgery? I am going to go to the walk-in orthopaedic clinic in town next week but I am terrified I will get awful news. Give me some hope - or at least some straight talk about what might be to come!
