DH developed flu symptoms today and was diagnosed with Flu B, and prescribed Tamiflu. He was interacting with LO for 4-5 hours yesterday night. LO has no symptoms and I only have a headache, which could definitely be stress. We both got the flu shot in November but as you know, it's not 100% effective. LOT is 10wks old, 13.5lbs (90th percentile), and EBF.

Minute clinic doctor said 2 days quarantine. CDC website says 5-7 days. Pediatrician said 7 days but then kind of wavered on that, saying it's "less of an issue once his symptoms subside." I have our spare bedroom & bathroom set up for him - snacks, books, clothes, tissues, extra trash can, computer & power cord, etc. He will be staying in those two rooms full-time for at least 4 days and probably the full 7. He is probably going to want to go back to work on Monday but I think I can persuade him to stay home, maybe.

Problem is, I go back to work on Monday (in 4-5 days depending on if you count today). He was supposed to do childcare drop-off and pick-up; since it is MUCH closer to his work. If I do this, it will mean 1.5hrs more in childcare for LO for each day, and of course this has to be his first week

1) Would you quarantine DH for 7 days regardless of symptoms?
2) I've read online that Tamiflu can be taken proactively, to prevent getting the flu if it's in your household. Online it says it's safe for breastfeeeding. Have any of you done this? I'll call my doctor & OB in the morning, but just wondering...

We try to follow all healthy precautions (washing hands often, sneezing/coughing into elbows or tissue, etc). I'm also washing all of our sheets & hand towels on hot, and running a sanitize cycle in the dishwasher.

Sorry for SUCH a long post. Also, would love encouraging stories about how your household had the flu but LO didn't get it @travellingbee: didn't you or DH get the flu this past season? I can't remember if it was before or after DS2?
