Ok tell me if I'm absolutely off my rocker.

DH's birthday is 4/19 and it's his 30th! The baby is due 3/30 so she'll be about 3 weeks old by the time his birthday weekend comes around. I wanted to have a small group of family and close friends over that Saturday evening for a few hours. Nothing super crazy, just some food and hanging out. Even if I'm MIA for a lot of the night taking care of the baby, I don't mind because it's his birthday and I bet he would enjoy seeing everyone. I would have it all set up in the basement.

To make it easy on myself, I'll order the cake early and my MIL can pick it up for me. I'm sure she'd help, too! I'll have food catered and delivered (a burger bar, italian food, something...). I'll buy some beer and keep it in the fridge down there. Paper plates, forks, etc...The basement is already clean and we don't use it very much at all, so it's not like I'll have to do cleaning/prepping.

Is this a reasonable low key birthday idea?
